AC keeps turning on

There's an AC button on the right side of the display next to the Mode button. You can manually cycle the compressor on and off with that. At least on the non navi. I'm sure the functionality is there on the navi, just not sure where.

i never use the auto button. i have 06 non navi. i use the fan button on the upper left corner and the AC will turn on sometimes if i press that button, then i would have to turn off the AC by pressing the AC button. Im just afraid that turning on and off the ac would eventually lead to ac failure.

I guess the solution there would be to leave the system turned on all the time with the fan on low when you're not using it and the a/c off. The system remembers the state it was in when you turned the car off. When you turn the car back on, it should retain that state. At least it does in my car (08)

If you're fan is off to begin with, and you press the fan speed to turn the system on, A/C automatically turns on. Keep the fan on when you turn the car off; so that next time you turn the car on, the fan comes on, but no A/C. The owner manual even recommends leaving the fan on to help reduce moisture in the vents.

The climate control computer can operate several things for you, temperature of the air (warmer/cooler), fan speed, AC compressor, which vents emit air.
When you press "AUTO" everything (temperature of air, fan speed, AC compressor, vents) is automatically operated by the climate control computer. The climate control computer will do whatever it determines to get the temperature you set. The AC compressor is usually run frequently by the climate control computer.
If you press "AC" the AC (compressor) is turned off (forever until you change it) and you will see AC off in the display window. If you press "AC" again, the compressor will be turned on (forever until you change it).
If you press the fan up or down buttons, the display will show the fan speed, and you can select what you want. The fan will stay at the speed you select until you change it. The climate control computer will not adjust it.
The "mode" button will select which air vents are used. Pressing "mode" will cycle through the various vents. The vents selected will be used until you change it - the climate control computer won't adjust it anymore.
Once, again pressing "AUTO" puts everything back in control of the climate control computer.
I frequently press "AC" and manually turn the compressor off (forever). When I want more cool air than outside air, I press either "AC" again and the compressor turns on (forever). Or I press AUTO and everything is automatically adjusted.
