About those Expensive Intakes...
Quick question: Does J's Racing and Mugen Intake have significantly more gains compared to the Comptech Icebox? All three looks relatively the same in design... the former two costing about five times more than the icebox...

for the most part it's about the prestige (bling) of having one from Mugen
or J's or whatever.
like most all good watches will work the same, etc.
fit and finish.
prestige.

At one point, I was heavily considering going with the J's Racing CF intake. However, after talking to several guys at A-J Racing (the company who imports them into the U.S.), they actually admitted that the Comptech Icebox would produce better gains than their own intake ( for their honesty) mostly because the Comptech lid is larger (i.e. more air volume) than the J's Racing one. However, depending on the level of modifcations you've added, the difference would probably be negligble. I can't confirm this, but I would expect the same to be true of the Mugen intake.
Like the other guys said, the J's Racing and Mugen intakes are purely for aesthetics / "bling" factor. I currently favor maximizing my performance, so I'm sticking with my Icebox.
