Thumbs up About to get a TSX - Whats are your suggestions?

Hello all (my first post),

I am 17, male. I live in LA and I am most likely going to get a brand new acura TSX this weekend. I test drove one today, and have wanted one for a while. I either want black w/ beige interior or red w/ beige interior. I am leaning towards the red for a number of reasons but mostly because it is different, and displays the sportiness of the car. I am really excited about getting one, however, from reading these forums and hearing of various problems (mostly creeking/cracking noises, and alignment issues) I have some worries. The dealership would be Santa Monica Acura, in Santa Monica ofcourse. Anyone have suggestions for me about anything related to getting a TSX and driving/maintaning one? Also, although I think I would notice it myself, how can I tell for sure whether the cars alignment is off etc? Thanks all.

Oh and, what do you guys think about the navigation system? I have the money for it, and want it. Is it useful? Or is it distracting/a pain? Thanks. Also, if I want to put some different rims on it etc will the dealership do that for me?

Hi moxsum. Don't let the talk about the rattles get to you. The TSX is an excellent car and you'll enjoy the ownership experience. The problems with the alignment you've heard about have really been over-exaggerated. My experience with the car for the past year has been great.

If you buy wheels from the dealer, they will install them before delivery of the vehicle. Otherwise, basically any local mechanic with a lift and a torque wrench could do it. In fact, if you wanted, you could even do it yourself with a loaned torque wrench from an auto parts store.

As for the navi, I don't like them because I believe that they are distracting but a lot of the members really like the system. Plus, Honda/Acura navigation systems are THE BEST available on the market now.

So enjoy the TSX and check out the thread about the SoCal owners meet. You should join us after you get your car.

Welcome to the site and I'm sure you'll like the car regardless of color or NAV choice.

Thanks CGTSX2004! You and bikers words are definitely encouraging. Yea, maybe I will come to the meetup depending on time/date. Could some of you comment on the power/speed of the TSX? I mean.. im 17, so id like to have some fun with the car I have been driving around my moms GTI 1.8T. Its pretty peppy, will the TSX match it?

The GTi likely feels quicker off the line, but the TSX will be quicker in just about every other stat. You'll be surprised how quickly it can accelerate when you're already in motion.

if your mom's GTi is a 5-speed, than it is faster than a TSX, but obviously the TSX is 10x more refined and a better car all around.

What other cars are you looking at?

GET THE NAVI!!! It's much more than just a navigation system. I wish someone had told me this...

The optional "silver star" 5-spoke wheels look the best on the red, IMHO. Just something to keep in mind. Welcome.
