About to buy a used 2004...

Link: 2004 TSX

Seems like a good deal, but will try to talk them down to $12,000 out the door. Browsing the forums I see the biggest problems with 2004 are the AC HVAC lights going out in the center console and burning oil. What else should I be looking for?

Also as far as the extended warranty I would not be buying it from this dealer since its a Nissan dealership, so where can I purchase the Acura warranty and what price would I be looking at and is it worth it?

I haven't checked the carfax yet but will probably ask at the dealer to show it to me. If anyone can run a check for me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and hopefully I'll be joining the TSX community....

Good luck dude!

Wish you bought my 04 TSX instead for $16,000 instead, it has almost 60K miles and has a navi. I really want to get rid of my 04 TSX for something AWD, but I'm in need a better job first.

Wow, $14,000. It seems like TSX's depreciate like crazy. Of course an auto/non nav '04 is the very bottom of the line but I still think buying new was one of the worst financial choices I've ever made.

Check out the air conditioner thread as well. Seems like the "major" problems would be the console lights and the A/C. Some owners report oil burning, driver's seat shifting, and an assortment of squeaks and rattles. I would suggest you take a long test drive on various surfaces to give it a good shake-out. Lastly, once the original warranty is up I don't believe you can buy a factory warranty extension.

Carfax requests are not allowed.

When I was looking at values, the auto was worth more than the manual.

Anyway, I got $14,000 for mine w/ 80,000 miles on it, but the dealer offered me $9500

LOL - my 2004 TSX had all of the above (well, not really any rattles that weren't my own doing though).

Still, with a non-working AC Subaru gave me $11,500 for it with 75K on it, so if you can get that car for $12,000 I'd be impressed.

PS. To the guy who said they depreciate like mad, keep in mind that it could be a 5 1/2 year old car at this point since the 2004's came out in early 03 and that car only cost about $26k new. I don't think that's so bad.

PPS. I vote don't buy. Find a lower mileage 2005 TSX 6speed on Carmax. I like the color though (mine was ABP).

Well it looks like that car is already sold, just my luck. There are a couple CPO that I might end up getting. Is everything covered under the CPO extended 7 yrs warranty?

Here are my next 2 options
1. 2004 44,000 miles CPO $17,000
2. 2005 66,000 miles CPO $17,000

I'll get the 2005 only if I can get $15,000 out the door for it. I'll show the dealer that the other cars 20,000 less miles and for the same price so either drop it to my price or I'll go buy the other car at the other dealer.

Also is there any truth to going to buy a car on the last day of the month and getting the dealer to bend over backwards to get you in the car?

I'm in the same boat, I should've just purchased an 06 and called it a day...at least then the depreciation wouldn't be THAT bad. Including the 2.9% financing and ttl, because I was picky and didn't get a killer deal, I paid over $30k for my non-navi...
