About the 09TSX switchable key
Hi there,
I am from Australia, driving a 08TSX(Accord Euro), I really like the switchable key!
I got a few dumb question here,
1. what is the difference between the OEM 09TSX switchable key ($30) and FLBUSA's($125)?
2. it has been chipped? such as some other electronic parts have been added?
3. Could I buy the OEM key to get locksmith cut and program by dealer? or dealer could only program the FLBUSA's with my 08TSX?
Regards, Johnny

The 09 is a laser cut key
The flbUSA key is milled.
The 04-08 TSX takes a milled key, not a laser key.
no, you cannot just buy a 09 key and have a locksmith cut it.
it has to be milled first.
the 09, uncut is the same as the TL key uncut.
it needs to be milled.
that's what flbUSA does for us.

Thx a lot for your reply, what i understand from your reply is the only difference between OEM and flbUSA's is 'milled', right? there is not chipset's difference?

correct.
top is laser, bottom is a blank milled key.
you can buy a TL blank for like $50 too.
doesn't need to be a 09 TSX blank.
they're on ebay.
only trouble is getting it milled.
if you have a laser key now, you can't use the flbUSA key.
you have to buy a blank off of ebay or elsewhere and have it laser cut.
then have the immobilizer chip programmed, then the fob buttons programmed.

I'm not sure if the 09 TSX uses the same chip.
I would guess, yes, of course it does.
I know the TL keys do.
so yes, you have to buy just a blank, unmilled.
$30-$50.
then have it cut by a laser cutter to match your key.
then have the chip in it programmed.
then program the buttons to work with the car.
I would just buy a blank 07 TL key, knowing that it works.

flbUSA has been doing this long before the 09 TSX was ever even thought of.
maybe they did switch now.
they're probably the same exact thing.
just don't know for sure.
only one way to know really, ... experiment or ask someone who has.

Good for you! I can't wait to hear back about your findings. I emailed Acura of Peoria about the 09 TSX key. They told me that they know the 07 TL key works, but have no idea about the 09 TSX key. Not helpful at all, and the way they worded it, they didn't seem to be willing to try. If it works, I'm there. If not, 07 TL key, here I come!

The 09 TSX key is the same as the 07TL key, the only difference is that the keyless entry transmitter uses a different frequency and the FCC ID in the back is also different therefore it will not program to the stock keyless entry system of and pre 09 acura...it does work with the new 8th gen accord and civic though... I just did this mod to my 7th gen accord because it was only $36 compared to $70 for the TL key...guess I found out the hard way :/ now all i need is a TL transmitter to swap out in this keyfob...

no i just bought the 09 TSX key...check the back of your remote and post the FCC ID bumber....as long as urs is the same and uses the same IC inside, then ur golden....the only thing is that ur key looks alot like the 8th gen civic keys which are type 6 keys...this means that the immobilizer chip is built onto the keyless entry transmitter board...take ur key apart and check it out...post some pics if u can.

Check out www.acuraofoakland.com. They sell the switchblade key for the 04-06 TSX and TL now! I plan on checking it out. They cost $200.

Laser Cutter to 07 TL Key?
Can a laser cutter professional cut a blank 07 TL switchblade to match my 06 TSX keys (i.e. without getting the 07 blank TL key milled first)?
If so, any idea how much it would cost?
Thanks all!

I cut the key and my dealer programmed it already, i could use it to start my car, however the entry transmitter doesn't work, so those buttoms on the key fob cannot be use now... poor me! Should i do anything? I mean what can i do now? Should i try the 09TSX key?

Oliver!!!
^What year is your TSX? If it doesn't have the memory seats you'll have to follow the directions on the remote to unlink the memory seat position and it should work. Others with earlier model year TSXs have had this problem and unlinking the remote has pretty much universally worked. Good luck!

thx for ur reply man, my tsx is yr08, actually i did tell the dealer about disabling the memory seat function, they said they cannot program it.... sigh... everything is working now beside the remote.... I could unlock and lock the car by turning the key at driver's door though, or i didn't disable the memory properly?

I believe you do so by holding down the unlock and lock buttons together or
something... let me look into this real quick...
*looking....*

oh, it says it on the key itself... duh.
yeah, to disable the memory seat function of the key, just hold the lock and
unlock buttons at the same time, and it will disable that function.

Edit: Okay if it's that the dealer won't program the remote, that you can do on your own. It's really simple. A few posts up somebody linked the FLBusa site. You want to click the "remote" link. There's instructions there on how to program the remote for your car. Only takes a few minutes and doesn't require any tools.

Thx for reply guys. Let me say it clear~
1. I bought the 07 TL key for 08TSX(first gen) no memory seat
2. I get it cut
3. dealer programmed the immobilizer chip in the 07 TL key (not the remote function)
4. the unlock/lock buttom on the remote doesn't work
My question is:
1. Is it possible the frequency of the 07TL key is different from my 08TSX?
2. As my dealer could programmed the immobilize chip in the 07 TL key and start the car, does it mean the 07 TL remote SUPPOSED work with my TSX as well?
Thank you in advance!

Oliver!!!
Yes, the remote in the 07 TL works with the 1G TSX. The remote is very easy to program following the directions in post #25. Just click the link that has the remote.pdf and they're there. The immobilizer is the only thing that the dealer has to program. You can do the remote yourself.
And how do you have an 08 without memory seats? They're standard.

if you have memory seats, you don't need to disable anything.
the link is how to program the buttons so they work.
if you can't get it working, I can't help any more than that, sorry.

one more question: In the instruction, it said Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.
So does it mean I suppose to use my existing key to turn the ignition switch, then press the lock/unlock buttom of the switchblade key under my steering wheel (under the dashboard)?
