Whenever I stumble upon a nice stretch of road....I guess that happens pretty often

Either I'm driving like an old man or I'm fast and furious, not much inbetween. I drive like an old man much more often though, mostly to save gas.

2-3 times a week. With gas prices, I try to conserve lately.

"awful" noise huh....Maybe you should just stay below 6K, you wont ever get that mean, nasty, awful noise...which is aka VTEC.

Well... not a 6M driver but a 5A. I occassionally use the SS mode and hit Vtec about a couple of times a month. It feels really nice and it's fun. I dont think it'll hurt the engine otherwise the engineers would've never put the Vtec into there for you to rev up past 6000 RPM;s. If it hurt the engine and you weren't supposed to activate Vtec, it would defeat the purpose of putting in Vtec in the first place. Relax, it's an engine that doesn't get it's peak power until higher in the RPM band so it's designed to rev.

This is vtec: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question229.htm
On the stock ECU its at 6000 RPM. A hondata reflashed ECU lowers that to 5000 RPM.

Vtech is a type of shoes. if you wear it and floor it, sensors on the gas paddle detect it and put the engine to higher RPM

Redline daily.

Bounce off the rev limiter on accident every few days. First just goes by so fast...

Anyway, I've been doing a lot of highway drving lately, so I don't hit redline all too often. I usually give it a go when I have 1/8 of a tank left. I usually want to burn it all fast then refuel.
