I think I'm going to update my 2007's Navi disk. Do I want the white or orange disk?

Also, once I receive the disk, do I just eject my old navi disk and put the new one in? Will I need any codes or anything for this?

Thanks!

The site will tell you which color disc you need when you put in your year/model info. It will also be the same color of the one you have. Yes just put it in and it will do the rest.

Click on the link he has for the white disk v4.92. Under the compatibility list shows the tsx 2006-10. Still $99.

Nevermind, just had to clear my cache!

Placed an order for my 07 TSX.

What is involved in installing the new disk? Do you just turn on the car, pop out the old disc, and put the new one in?

The '04 and '05' TSX's need the Orange Disc and the '06 and up needs the White Disc.

$99.00 is ALMOST reasonable for something that usually has barely any updates and comes out every year regardless of how few updates are typically on it.

Can anybody post some screen shots?

I'd be psyched to get this, if it addresses at least some of these issues:

that lame startup screen (I replaced it with a prettier one, and would hate to lose it just to get the lame one back)

improved graphics/gui

improved POI searching ("nearest WalMart = 1,201 miles to the west")

noticeable improvement to roads database (I'm tired of driving home every day on a large road that was rerouted OVER TEN YEARS ago, but my nav doesn't have it, so I drive in thin air for a mile while leaving breadcrumbs on the map. More irritating is that EVERY trip I enter into the nav sends me on a huge detour because it tries to put me on the road that used to be there over ten years ago but isn't there anymore...)

improved mapping (often sends me in a loop around my destination, even when I know there are more direct routes, no matter if routing method is set to Easy, Direct, or etc)

fixed DST fall back/spring forward (bought car in early 06, DST dates changed in fall of 06, so now the time shifts occur automatically at the wrong dates)

any updates to some of the other functions (calendar, calculator, etc)?

Same splash screen with warnings.
No improved GUI/Graphics that I see even from upgrading from 2004 disc (bit of a disappointment).
Your road is probably updated.
Don't know about others.

I don't see an improvement in the GUI or graphics with the new update. Of course, it's nice to see all the new roads on there along with new directions it gives you for the shortest time to get to your destination. Although I got mine after the time change, it is supposed to fix that issue as well. Lastly, I've turned on the Gas Icons and it seems like most major gas station icons are updated from the generic gas icon to the actual logo of the gas station. I haven't had the chance to see how the other icons are like.

What year is your TSX? From your join date, at first I thought yours might be an '04. But since you said that you got yours after the time change, and it seems to have not been an issue for you, that sounds like you've got an '07+.

My '06 shows gas station brand logos for some, but not all, gas stations. For example, for some Mobil stations, it displays a logo, but for some (most) others Mobil stations it displays the generic gas station icon. I'd say that for all the gas stations I drive by, most are displayed with the generic icon. While it does display (some) gas station logos, my '06 doesn't show any restaurant logos at all.

I doubt we'll ever see graphics updates in the future. Our lcd screens are low resolution as it is, and the nav. system software is slooooow as molasses. The last graphical improvement I can remember is the addition of one way street arrows. That's about it. Anyone else know of any other improvements they've made in the graphics in the last six years? (besides gas station icons). It's unlikely we'll see any sharper text/graphics. I would like some new features added, but we're talking about a nav system that came out in 2004 here. That's ancient in tech years.

I have a 2006 TSX. I've joined this site way back before I got my TSX to get some info on it. Sorry, I meant to say that I received my Navigation update disc after the November time change, so I wasn't able to verify that the update did fix that (but I'm sure it will according to the Acura site).

I'm still playing around with the features to see if there has been any improvement in anything or any additional features.

I recently bought an 2007 Acura TSX, and had purchased this navigation disc a few weeks thereafter, as the original disc that came with the car was from June 2006.

You can't beat this deal for $99.

Thanks for the info csmeance. I just ordered my copy.

If I copy the disc will it work in another '07 TL? Is there an easy way to remove the disclaimer acknowledgement for this update?

I don't believe that the new 2011 navigation disc is copy-able...Basically, even if you copy, the pirated navi disc will not work.

Thanks, I didn't think it would work anyway. I was really looking to get rid of the annoying "OK" screen which I think can only be removed by "modding" the files on the disc and burning another one.

Ordered mine for my 2006, and got it two days later. $99 plus shipping and tax brought it to $116. Here's what i can report, at least in comparison to my original disc...

Male voice has been eliminated.

No changes to GUI or any other graphics, except as described below.

No changes (that I've seen yet) to applications in the "INFO" tab (calculator, calendar, etc).

Much to my surprise, the female voice actually pronounces some things differently now. A good example is "Boulevard". It used to sound like she was saying it while trying to swallow an entire cupcake. Now it sounds much clearer. Not all the pronounciation or enunciation changes are for the better, however.

The nav now displays SOME chain restaurant logos (vs none before). Burger King and Dunkin Donuts are the ones I've noticed the most. Amazingly, what should be the most prevalent one - McDonalds - doesn't show as a logo. Mine showed some, but not too many gas station logos before, it shows a few more now. In either case, the logo icon is so small, and the resolution so chunky that it's often hard to tell what that logo is supposed to be.

In 1/20 scale, little arrows are now present to indicate one ways. (I think these replace a red circle with a horizontal white line through it, meaning "do not enter". I forget since I very rarely use 1/20 scale.)

I changed the splash screen to one of my own (see the "Modify your navigation" thread, somewhere around post 1240). The NAV system must recognize that the new disc is an update and reloads things such as the splash screen from the disc with each startup, because I can modify to insert my custom splash screen and it shows up, but then the system brings back that lame and ameteurish Acura splash screen as soon as I reinsert the updated DVD.

That major road that I was complaining about is now correct. I still encounter a few roads that have been in existence for a decent amount of time that don't exist in the nav, however.

The Nav system seems a wee bit slower to start up now. There seems to be a little bit more of a wait for things to happen after touching the "OK" button on the nag screen.

The daylight savings time issue has been fixed.

The biggest improvement for me was that that one major road near my home has been fixed. That literally messed up the routing of every trip to and from home. The road fix helps me feel a little bit justified in spending $116, but that's pretty much the only thing of significance, and overall I'm disappointed.

The fact that they rely on us (the users) to inform them of errors means that some of these blocked streets and changed intersections in our neighborhoods will only be corrected if one of us brings it to their attention.

I actually noticed there is an error on that compatibility list for the DVD.. I have a 2004, but it was manufactured in 2003 and bought in June 2003. So my disc is actually 2002 lol.

Damn it! I didn't see this thread until I ordered my disc! In any case those links still say it is $185 for me. Anyway, my 2011 Navigation Update Disc for my 2004 Acura TSX (Orange Disc) arrived today. The version is v3.A0. Unfortunately it was $185 as usual and not on sale for $99. I have been buying them almost every year because I am able to sell the previous years version on eBay and get most of my money back. I actually got $142.50 for my 2009 disc. That's crazy, when you consider the current one is $185. I will put up my 2010 DVD (v3.90) up on eBay soon.

The software version is still 1.5 so there was no new firmware update. I don't think there has been a firmware update in a while actually which isn't surprising. I figure it is just map and POI database updates from now on. I am trying to remember if they ever updated the daylight savings dates. I can't remember if I had to manually adjust mine or not.

I was amused to see that the town I was raised in (not the town I live in) was finally added to the database. It only took them 8 years.

The website price for the Black 2.80 update disk for my 2001 RL was $185, not $99 as indicated in the promotional email I received. I called Navteq (866-325-3185) and learned that $99 deal was limited to 2004 RLs, 2004-2006 TLs, 2003-2004 MDXs, and 2004-2005 TSXs. I told the sales rep that I would only buy at $99, but not at $185, so sales rep got his supervisor to agree to the $99 price. Initially, I am being charged the full price, but they will immediately process an $86 refund directly to my credit card.

So, if you are willing to order over the phone and you can convince the sales rep that you will only become apaying customer @ $99, you can probably get this same deal.
