I'm a little confused here. Isn't all the gas we buy "unleaded"? Did this person mean "unleaded" as in regular (87 octane)?

FWIW, I'd like a 6cyl with 250 hp please

i'm thinking this

250 hp 6 cyl, unleaded (regular TSX)

280 hp 6 cyl, premium (TSX type-S)

So I am guessing the redesign is scheduled for 2009?

I actually like the MDX grill. It's definitely more aggressive and unique. I think Acura needs to stop being so conservative and take some risks. I can't wait!

BTW, they'll probably throw out the 280hp engine since that would obviously compete too much with the TL and RL. I would expect 250 for a TSX-S and the same, detuned V6 (maybe 225-230???) in the regular TSX. That's just my guess, tho.

Good catch....it is as you say, regular or premium...all unleaded...i think people are working off the signs at the stations...?? And Yes to a V-6 as long as it revs as smooth as the 4

This has been confirmed for some times so I'd say yes.

I dunno if I see them getting completely rid of the 4cyl motor.

But if they are pushing the sport/luxury motif, then I do. But if Audi can pull of a nice 4 cylinder turbo, you'd think Acura would do the same with the TSX since the TSX, A3 and A4, are competitors.

Acura should do like Audi. They have both a Audi A4 2.0T and a 3.2 model.

It would be cool to have a TSX that is maybe a 2.5L I4 version and a 3.0 V6 version.

Don't forget that Acura doesn't like trading off HP for fuel economy. I think I've read that the TSX platform isn't big enough to mount a V6. I would love to see a version of the RDX turbo 4 in the next TSX. Once you start getting into the 240-250HP range then you have to deal with torquesteer (unless they give SH-AWD to the TSX).

Just hope it's still DOHC and moddable unlike the CL motor which wasn't very moddable except for intake and headers. Unless of course you have $5K for the SC.

They are better off keeping the current TSX motor and simply adding in a TYPE-S trim level with between 240-250hp.
Very well said, and you are right on, but to have any torque at that horsepower level the tsx would need a bigger engine or forced induction, the latter of which is not likely. For those of you who are optimistic about the possibility of honda indiscriminately putting turbos in more of its cars, don't bet on it. They are not about to become the next japanese version of saab, where pretty much all the powerplants are turboed. One of honda's selliing points of vtec was that it boosted power without the stress of a turbo or supercharger, this was on the acura website, so don't get to happy about the rdx and think its going to spread

I also want to know whether it looked anything like the Sport 4 Concept!

BTW, for those of you who were in the focus group, having seen it now, how do you compare the new look to the 3 series, IS or A4? Does it look like it will be an even more serious contender for this market segment?

You dogs!! I would have paid you to be your shoes.

Was there any mention of SH-AWD?

You actually got a look at an unmasked car, or was it partially masked? Was it fully functional?

What did most people in the group say about the styling vs the other cars? More or less agressive than current TSX/IS/3-series?

Does the sheetmetal wrap more tightly around the wheels, like in the new Civic?

Does it have shorter front or rear overhangs?

The biggest problem I see is weight. Given a car of the same size a move to the v6 is a +200lb weight gain(minimum). The current accord is more like a 300lb weight gain(a decent chunk of that is likely due to standard options increase). If you add awd you will be adding another 100+lbs....

a v6 FWD TSX most likely weighs 3500+ lbs and an AWD one 3600+. That's pretty portly.

Then again acura could go all out for weight savings. Unfortunately that would also mean the price would increase proportionally.

Don't get me wrong the TSX can without a doubt use more power I jsut personally think a turbo motor is the right way to do it for this car.

3. The only thing masked were the emblems and badges, it was obvious from the design that it was a TSX. We had access to the interior, 360-deg view of the exterior , and the trunk. The engine bay was off limits. It did appear to be fully functional.
4. We weren't allowed to talk amongst ourselves (lest our opinions were swayed by another person). They did select 8 people to stay behind for a focus group discussion but I wasn't selected so I don't know what the discussion was about. I did speak to 2 others on my way out and they both liked the look of the TSX. I personally did not think it was an improvement. I think Acura was trying to be a bit more aggressive in the styling but, again, I did not care for how they went about it.

I got called for the one in Houston but I had no idea that they had future cars over there so I didn't proceed with the registration. They were offering $100 incentive.

Defiantly will not be a 2008. As the Acura website already shows the TSX as a 2008 model year.

Ok just two more questions:

- Does it look a lot like the blue photoshop in this thread / Sport 4, or different?
- Did it have a kind of built-in underbody spoiler kit, or was the bottom rounded out like the 2004 TSX?

And besides that... What about LED tail lights?

Are these focus groups very common for a new model these days? Or does it mean that Acura really have an emphasis on the TSX, given its (unexpected) success with the current generation?

Does this whole process start with a really long survey phone call? Got one today. I was on for about a half hour answering question after question about my impressions of Acura, Lexus, BMW, Audi, etc, then narrowed down to specific models like the TSX, IS250, 3 series, and A4. After reading this thread, I half expected to be invited to a focus group, but they just took my answers and some demographic info and thanked me. Who knows, maybe I'll get a follow-up later.

I think they'll keep the same 2.4L motor but up the redline and horsepower to 220-240ish. They should be able to do this if they can do it to the 2.0 RSX motor.

Nice looking car. However, New Accords looked really good in concept drawings but they turned out looking like ass.
