2005 Value

I was a bit surprised, and since I own an '04 model, a little disappointed that the 2005 TSX price increase was just $500. Given the several new amenaties/improvements, I'd have to say that the new TSX is an even better value.

I felt like I was in a similar situation when I recently bought my 04. The dealer was asking 29K for a 6MT w/ navi. I said "why would I buy that when i could spend 500 more for the 05?" his reply was because your not going to pay sticker for the 04. I wound up paying 26,800 for it instead of 29,500 for the 05. That made me happy I found an 04.

wow, 26800 is pretty good! A local dealer was going to cut me a similar deal on their demo but you know what they say, never ever buy the first model year, at least that's what i've been telling myself, so i'll get an 05.

In reality however, the MY04 was so long that anything that was made this year (from about VIN 20K and up) is really not first year anymore.

Hasn't the TSX basically been around a while in Europe, just shipped here and put a Acura plate on it and added a few horses in 04? If so, wouldnt consider this the first model year.

ya its nice. it grew on me. every piece of carpet in the tsx was covered with a black all weather mat to protect it. the look of the interior and the exterior color with tinted windows looks very good IMO!

Boy are you ever right sonton, my 2002 rsx, had bugs!
New tranny, new clutch and reworked syncrhos. All under 15K miles. I told myself after the 3 weeks total it was in the shop that i wouldnt buy a first year model again. Thus im in a 2005 Tsx!

Not just that, I believe they changed the interior and some other stuff. But yea, wouldn't the TSX be older than one year? It did come out first in Europe as a Accord.

While I generally agree that one would be wise to avoid the first year's production of a new model, there are two mitigating circumstances that led me to purchase an '04 model TSX with confidence. 1) Since the TSX is essentially a Euro R Accord revamped for presentation to America as an Acura, the basic platform is already tried and true, and 2) The TSX was first released in April of 2003 as an '04 model, so when mine was built in June of 2004, the model had already been in production for 14 months or so. As a matter of fact, the earliest production runs did have a problem with transmission cases that were recalled and replaced. A few lesser problems like defective seat rails, errant dash/center pod lights and various rattles, etc. were also more prevalent in the earlier months of production. My late-production '04 TSX however, has been essentially problem-free. After 4 1/2 months and more than 8,000 miles, my only complaints have been a very slightly off-center steering wheel and a minor creak somewhere in the passenger side dash area (sounds only when cold).
