I see there's a little antenna thing that BMW has at the top roof for the 2005 US model TSX. but for Canadian model, it doesn't have that. what does this thing do, and why US model has, but not the Canadian model? and can i buy one or where can i get one and stick it on? i think it looks better to have one.

That's an XM antenna. XM is not supported in right now so your models do not have it.

You can buy the fake shark fins on ebay. However, it's lame to have a shark fin that doesn't serve a purpose.

 

I know TSX in Canada has no XM (not something I really care for anyway). But is XM totally unavailable in Canada? I've seen after-market XM radio for BMW in a local store.

IMHO, the shark fins on the BMW, Audi look stupid anyway - even if they are functional.

Is the XM antenna on TSX (US) also like a shark fin? Or is it like a flat plasitic box stuck on the roof?

 

Flat plastic box stuck on the roof (just above the rear windshield). Same color as the car, but I wish it was integrated into the roof.....

 

Yeah, I keep wondering if there's a technical reason to have that sticking out - either as a fin or a box. After all, they manage to embedded the FM antenna in the back window (been doing for years now)...

Anyone knows about this stuff???
