2005 TSX finally on www.acura.ca

So the 2005 TSX is finally on www.acura.ca - I don't think there's anything new that hasn't already been discussed, but at least now it's official:

- The automatic is an extra cost option in Canada, base price of $36,100 versus $34,900 for the manual.
- Freight/PDI is now $1,200.
- The navi package is pricey and will set you back $3,300.
- I didn't see anything about XM radio from a quick glance, and the fin is missing from the pictures, so I'm assuming that it is not available in Canada.
- The new grey colour is called "Graphite Pearl" instead of "Carbon Grey", so I'm not sure if it's the exact same paint code. PWP is still available with the Ebony interior only, but NBP is now available with either a Parchment or Ebony interior (I thought it was only Parchment before?). Milano Red is gone.

Sorry if repost.

Thanks!

My :

-$3300 is too much for navi
-$1200 is too much for shipping
-$1200 for AT is crazy
-IBP is gone
-ABP is in
-Why they killed MR and not just add Ebony as an option is a weird choice.

I'm glad I didn't wait until 05.

MR and IBP probably weren't selling in great enough numbers to justify the small production runs for a Canadian spec vehicle, though by the same token I don't know why the US doesn't get PWP with Ebony since there's obviously demand (at least if you read this board).

Me too, we really like the black but not so much the parchment. Still can't figure how AT is $1200 more

So Dan, how do you figure $1200 for the AT is crazy? Its pretty much in line with what Honda and everyone else usually charges for an AT transmission.

Just basing it on the fact that it was free last year. I think Acura is greedy this time around.

The TSX in AT is a slightly worse value now, but still better than its competition pricewise (Audi A4 1.8T, Subaru Legacy, BMW 3-series, etc.).

I don't know how else to explain it either. If the price went up in the US I could understand but.....

Why they don't offer Milano Red/Ebony is IMO another of the world's great mysteries. The car looks gorgeous in red.

I can see my Autotrader.ca ad now.

" 2004 Acura TSX in the very rare Indigo Blue/Ebony. Only 300 sold in Canada "

I've actually been seeing alot more IBP in the last few weeks. Maybe thats all that was left of the 04's they were clearing off lots.

I'd be in a NBP/Ebony or MR/Ebony right now if they were available back then.

Canadian Pricing ... More for Less

I went by the dealer yesterday for a battery and was given the new Canadian pricing for the TSX.

Frankly I think this pricing is seriously

at the current exchange rates the fully loaded 39,400 TSX Auto/Navi costs over $5,000CDN more for less car than you would get in the US (no XM included).

The new $1200 PDI reflects what? 25% inflation ? Teamsters? Hey let's charge Canadians 79% more !

Being charged 1200 for a feature (Auto Xmission) that is thrown in for free south of the border is insulting.

Add $1200 or so for someoverpriced extras. Maybe you need an extended waranty since we give you a shorter one than in the US. Now add 15% GST/PST for Ontario.

$50k Rebadged 4 Cylinder Euro-Accord Anyone ?

Hey Acura Canada. Phuck You ! Phuck You Very Much !

It makes absolutely no sense that the AT went up in Canada and not in the US. It's obviously a pure marketing decision to increase margin.

the Auto as a volume item probably costs less to make than the Special 6-Speed "magnesium alloy" gearbox. 90% of cars are sold with Automatics. & Enthusuasts will buy the manual anyways.

8-way power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support
Either they havn't yet updated the specifications or Canadian TSX's aren't getting a pwr pass seat.

Also, the fuel economy specs still favour the AT.

Fuel Consumption (L/100 km): Manual/Automatic City: 10.7/10.2*
Fuel Consumption (L/100 km): Manual/Automatic Highway: 8.1/7.4*
Recommended Fuel: Premium unleaded 91 octane

They've got a few problems with that site. I like how there's a button called "Default 2" at the bottom and when you click it, it goes to the dealer locator. Copy and paste anyone?

Yes, the pricing makes no sense at current exchange rates, and charging for the auto is a dubious move, though not out of line with anyone else. I just priced it out against a BMW 325i, and the TSX is still $5,000CDN cheaper comparably equipped, and slightly less than an Audi A4 1.8T. Once you add in reliability, the Acura still easily comes out on top.

I can't really fault Acura all that much, since they are entitled to charge whatever they think the market will bear, and no one likes a price increase, but I think anyone seriously considering a TSX will get over it.

That could explain the lack of a weight increase, though I'd like to see a power passenger seat.

When the $34,800 price tag came out back in April of 03, beleive me their were alot of peole up in arms around here including me. I got over it after a few days and went out and bought one anyway.

But I can guarantee with 100% certainty, if I had to pay $40,600 for a AT TSX w/Navi, there would be no way in hell I would.

Right now I'm just really glad I got an 04

The price for an AT w/Navi is very high, but how many people in Canada will actually go for the Navi? Without it, the TSX is still a very good deal. I can understand how someone in Vancouver or Toronto who has to drive around a lot might want it, but anywhere else in Canada I doubt it would be that big of a deal. We should have a poll to see how many people in Canada would get the Navi.

Well the good news is that our 04's will probably retain their value more. Oh, and there'll probably be more 6MT's on the road.

what are you talking about???

a similarly equipped audi A4 costs just under $42,000 before fees and taxes.

a BMW 325i sedan similarly equipped is around $45K before fees and taxes.

the acura is a bargain...

but i still disagree with the 5-AT price increase...lol

Good idea about the poll. Start one up and lets see what happens.

If it were $2500, maybe but $3300 no way. Put into perspective, I bought my Sony Wega 43" LCD RP for less than that including a stand. I think that's a much better value.

I didn't go into a lot of detail on the A4, but I chose the FrontTrak version (not Quattro) and ticked off the options that I knew were the same - maybe I missed a few. Point is, TSX is still cheaper than either the Audi or BMW which is its main competition.
