2004 TSX Totaled Need Help Fighting Insurance for fair value

My 2004 TSX was in great shape with chrome wheels, new tires, trunk tray, window tint, new battery. Kelly bluebook vaules it at 10K for excellent and 8k for fair. The one problem is the car has 138K miles, but was in great shape. How do I get the most for this car for the settlement?

All you can really do is get comparable sales in your area. How you value your car and what the insurance company thinks it is worth will be miles apart. The itmes listed above add little to no value to your TSX.

Prove to them that it was in great shape with copies of service records and receipts of new purchases applied towards the car along with comparables in ur area as stated before.

Yes...and show the insurance company some photos of the car, (hopefully with dates), to prove that it was in better condition than most cars of that mileage and age.

I have a friend who used photos to successfully lobby his insurance company to cover the higher value of his old Nissan Z -- which was immaculate.

I second that. Which is why I always keep sevice records in case that happens. I had a Accord got stolen after 3 months of owning it. I had records of payment on services and original receipt of purchase and got $2500 more than what insurance claimed my car was worth

Thanks guys for the input. I spoke with insurance adjuster and he said they use a CCS Value Scope to determine the value. Anyone familiar with that? My insurance appraised the car at $11,800 with 135K miles. The other insurance has not made an offer. I will show service records and find pictures.

$11,800 for an 04 w/ 138K miles? (I assume that's after your deductible). I would take that check and run (not walk) to a bank and cash it (the insurance company doesn't care what condition your car was in, but feel free to try and squeeze a few more bucks out of them). That seems like huge money to me, but...... just my opinion of course.

I always reject the 1st offer and sometimes even the 2nd to force their hand and squeeze out every red cent possible. Bcuz after all ur gonna get paid no matter what. It's not like they're gonna withdraw all the offers and not pay u so u might as well bully the bullies!!

Try to get more, but that's a good offer.

Anybody have thoughts on what car to get next? I like the TSX, but was looking at MDX. I play golf professionally and I'm on the road alot.

I personally would never own an SUV, (heavy, and thus don't handle as well, with terrible gas mileage), but if you must, the MDX is one of the better ones.

Otherwise, can you fit your clubs into an Accord coupe? Or a 4G TL? (Or an 06-08 TSX...more features and a bit more power than your 04). The new TSX is also still nice, but many folks including the car magazines don't like the numb electric steering and the big chrome nose.

I got an offer from insurance today for $11,900 including sales tax and license fee. The two apprasiers estimated it at $12,300 and 12,600, but not sure if that was including tax and license. Is this a good deal for my 04 TSX with 138,000 miles? I agrued with her about my car being in excellent condition, but she says its in good condition for a car 7 years old.

That is a more than fair value for a car with 138K miles - would you buy it for that amount if you were shopping for a car?
