2004 Acura TSX Front Door Locks

I have only had my car for about a week now, and I have already screwed something up apparently. After realising that I could hold the unlock button down on my key fob and my windows would roll down, I thought I would go outside and try it, they worked, but now when I go to unlock or lock my car with my key fob, only the rear door locks go up and down, the front door locks make noise, but they wont go up and down, they also don't go up/down when I lock the doors from the inside. If I put my key in the door and turn it clockwise, all the doors will lock, when I turn it counter-clockwise, all doors will unlock, anyone have any idea what I have done wrong?

This is a common issue. The electric motor that locks/unlocks your door is broken. Driver's doors are the most common ones bc they are used more often then the others. I had to deal with it myself.

So because the drivers side front is broken, it is causing the passenger side front not to unlock as well?

probably both the driver's and passanger's actuators are gone.
fairly common issue as said above.
search for "door actuator" threads.

I have read all of those threads before I posted....I don't understand why both the driver and passenger front door actuator would both fail at the same time, my locks were working fine when I took the little "Get Started" manual inside, I read about the windows rolling down on the remote, then walked outside to try it, after that, my remote doesnt lock/unlock my front doors.

The problem is just a coincidence. Using the window roll-down feature didn't cause anything to break. You did nothing wrong.

The security system can sense if a given door is in the "lock" or "unlock" position. When unlocking the car via the key fob, the drivers door unlocks first. Since the door is unable to unlock (due to a failed actuator), the system keeps attempting to unlock the drivers door before it'll continue on to unlock the rest of the vehicle (which is what normally happens when you press "unlock" a second time). Hence why you can't unlock your car from the key fob. Does this make sense?

This happened to me at roughly 60k miles. It is quite common.

But if that is the case, why would my rear doors unlock? Either way, I know a guy who is a mechanic for our local acura store, I'll let him take a look and fix it as a side job.

Huh...I didn't catch the part where both front doors won't unlock/lock. I can't imagine how using the window roll down feature would be related to that! It's gotta be a coincidence.

I know the window roll down feature doesn't relate to the lock problem, I just said that is what I was doing when all this happened.

The bottom line is:

From outside my car with the remote, both passenger and driver front will NOT lock or unlock, but both rear doors will LOCK and UNLOCK, from inside my car, when pressing the lock/unlock button on the driver side door, the same thing happens, when i press unlock, neither front door unlocks and both rear doors unlock, and visa-versa.

I thought if the driver door lock actuator was broken, then NO locks would lock or unlock?

From what I understand, only the actuator that is failing will have a problem, so in your case it would mean that both your front actuators are failing (the rear ones are fine). They may work some of the time, but not others.

But if you knew, why did you say...

I interpreted this as you possibly relating the use of the window roll-down feature and the failed actuators. I was just trying to say that the events are most likely unrelated.

Anywho...

I agree with the others. It's not very common for two to fail at the same time, but it is common for the front actuators to fail at some point in time. So, it's possible that they were on their way out and just simply stopped working at the same time.

We could be completely off...and if so I'd be very interested to learn about the fix!

Talked to my guy today, he said when I'm ready, around $45 a piece for the actuators and about $20 labor for each side, sounds like a deal to me, especially if I only need one actuator.

Did you hit the unlock button twice on the fob?

I did and I even tried holding down the lock & unlock button down at the same time. But still nothing.
