1st gen TSX resale value now that the 2nd gen TSX is on out
Now that the 2nd gen TSX is officially on sale, how much will this really affect the resale value of the 1st gen TSX? Will resale or trade-ins of the older TSX decrease a lot more now?

The new TSX coming out means everyone's car is now at least one model year older, which accounts for the change.

I didn't buy a WRX last year because I was waiting for finance rates to drop (it never hit 0% like it did in 06), then they eventually ran out of white WRX's, then eventually 07 WRX's altogether. I didn't want to relive that experience..

Of course, buying new, you know exactly how good the maintenance has been on the car since Day One. For some, that's worth the expense. I'm not sure I would've bought a non-NAVI new, though....
... I paid something like $26.6+ttl, and I'm also including the finance costs (60 months @ 2.9%).

it's a car-drive it
Personally my husband and I buy only new cars. We drive vehicles with MT and drive alot. We take excellent care of our vehicles so they get way over 100,000 miles. Resale is not an issue-it would be lower-due to MT and excessive mileage.

I scraped my left rear bumper (and a little bit of hte quarter panel, dammit) Tuesday, and the body shop quoted me $569 to simply smooth and paint, and touch up the paint where i scratched down to the metal. Since my deductible is $500, I decided to do the full "make it perfect" repair. Not sure when I'll sell this car, but ... who knows, I bought it partly for retaining resale value (or I woulda got a Celica GT or 6 year old IS250 or something). It was an interesting dilemma. Finally "it's a beautiful TSX, not a Civic" won out over "stop worrying every little nick, it's an Accord."

Car is not an investment.
There is a neighbor (single college grad) who has an Evo, and he bought a R32 new. He also has a beater VW.
He always drives the VW since he doesn't want to put mileage on the R32 and the EVO.
Point is, no matter what you do, resale value will go down. Might as well drive it and enjoy it. Unless if your car is a very limited edition or a classic, not driving it is just a big waste of money.
diverged sorry.

Maybe you don't have visibility into his budget. Driving beater => Lower mileage-incurred maintenance costs. Not to mention gas (car that can take regular vs. requiring premium).
