The way I do it under normal conditions (not trying to go fast):
1. Let off gas.
2. Push clutch pedal to floor.
3. Pull shifter out of first.
4. Wait.
5. Wait.
6. Pull shifter into second.
7. Steady on gas and let out clutch pedal.
Enjoy.

It is defeinalty smooth at low speeds and real jerky at high speeds. It has taken me about three weeks to get that shift down. The key in high speed shifting in this car from 1st to 2nd is give it some gas while the clutch is still down and chirp it a little bit. It needs the RPM's while it is being put into 2nd for a good power shift. I don't mean put it in the redline when shifting either, somewhere in the 3000 to 4000 range works well.
I did notice that if you don't let the clutch go to quickly or your easy on the gas, it seems a little smother. I think the way you hit the accelerator as a lot more to do with it than the clutch.
Thanks a lot I appreciate he info I'll give it a try.
It reaaly feels that this engine wants to rev to 8000 rpms. You just want to keep going but you can't!

Your smoothest shifts will happen when you match revs. From the time you depress the clutch to the time that you let it out the car is not accelerating. In that time the revs will fall (unless you contine to give it gas). What you want to do is be in second gear and let out the clutch as close to the RPM that corrsponds to your car's current speed in second gear as you can. You can do this one of two ways. 1. Make sure the time it takes you to shift is the same amount of time it takes for the RPMs to fall to the corresponding speed (this is a relatively short time, i.e. quick shift). or 2. Adjust the RPMs using the throttle before you let out the clutch. A little practice is all you need.
