1 Year review of my 2008 non-navi TSX
I wanted to give prospective TSX owners an idea of what to expect with the TSX. This is my third Acura; 02 RSX Base, 01 TL, and now my 08 TSX. I compared them in a previous thread about a year ago if anyones interested. By the way, I purchased the car with mug guards, tint, and the dealer pin stripe. I may have opted for the 3M clear bra as well could I do it all over again.
Impression after 1 year
I cannot say enough about the quality and value of this car. As everyone knows, this car is built and assembled in Japan. Regardless of where it is built, it feels solid and firmly planted on the ground at all times. I have yet to hear a rattle and I have driven over some bumpy roads. The car corners very well for a sedan while still absorbing bumps. I think the suspension may be slightly softer and more comfortable than when it was new. The car is plenty quick enough around town, although it is no way fast.
I have gotten many compliments on the car (BTW- PWP w/Black Interior). I came from a black TL/parchment and having a white car is much easier to keep clean. The black interior looks much more sporty, but it also seems smaller than the parchment. I might have gone for the parchment could I do it over.
Maintinance/Gas
According to the MID, I have averaged 24.8 MPG, although each time I fill up I calculate about 1 MPG less so it would be safe to assume I get about 24 MPG overall. Sitting in stop-and-go traffic and driving around town, you can expect to get about 18-20 while on the highway I easily get 30-33 cruising at 75-80 MPH.
I have followed the MID and changed the oil between 10-20%. I have changed the oil twice since I purchased the vehicle new a year ago. Once around 4200 miles and the second time was around 9000 miles. As of now, the car has about 9800 miles and still smells new.
Other than that, I have not had to do anything. I have not had to take it back to the dealer for anything.
Expenses
Gas: (10,000 miles/24MPG~420 gallons) roughly $1600 Total
Oil Changes: 2~$80
For the first time, I decided to see what claying was all about and washed and clayed my TSX. What a difference. It was time consuming but if you follow the directions, it is very easy. The paint is now smoother than the day I bought it. I would definitly recommend it for anyone that has never tried it. I always hand wash/wax the TSX and keep it as clean as I can. The black interior seems like its never perfect, but it looks nice.
I haven't seen the 09's in person, but I must say that the 1st Generations still stand out and look better than any American made car. I have no regrets and hope to say the same thing next year.

I would like to get the A-Spec kit and suspension but I'm in no hurry. I hear people talk about coilovers and what not, but if I were to drop it it would be very subtle. I would finish it off with some black wheels with a polished lip.
Unfortunatly I have an AT because my wife doesn't drive stick. My RSX was stick and that is the one thing I miss. I actually think the TSX handles better than the RSX. My RSX was not a type-S.
I agree, PWP/ebony is a great combo. My wife didn't like it, but the decision was mine and I went for it. She doesn't complain now...

I agree with everyone here.. 1G TSX is a great car and has as timeless exterior design.. It ages well and is built fine. I got a TL '08 as a loaner from my dealership when I did my oil change but that car was rattling from everywhere.. plus I thought it didn't handle as well as my TSX and was not as fun to drive (the TL was really quick though as far as speed is concerned).. and the TL looked better overall.. I guess those were the only big advantages of the TL over the TSX (speed + slightly better looks).. I'd say if you drop your TSX by 1' inch and get some nice wheels then it'll look really classy and great!... and in my opinion better than the TL...

My 08 non navi TSX with the same exact color combo as yours will be 1 year old in November (but w/ over 13K miles now), and I cant agree with you more. I love the car, and will be keeping her for as long as I could.

Great review. My wife and i have a non-nav 08 and love it so much that we're going to start looking for a certified pre-owned tsx for myself. i love everything about this car, too bad my wife drives it everyday.

Great choice!
To the poster who thinks the TL has better looks, I would completely disagree, TSeX is much sportier looking!
