'08 vs '10 TSX Compared to '08 TL

Hi all. I'd posted this in the 2G forum, but didn't get too much response, so I thought I'd park it here and see what I get.

Long story short: had an 08 TL that was taken away from me in a flood. Have been looking to replace, and decided that this time, I'd prefer a TSX as I want something sportier and didn't need "all that." Have been debating between an 08 and a 10, as the styling of the 09 really doesn't appeal to me that much. (no offense to the 09's on here!) Question is this: from a driving experience standpoint, which will I find more to my liking, given my experience with the 08 TL? If it's the 08, then I have my eye on one with 14,500 miles for $19,500 w/ nav. If it's the '10, then I've got a pretty good price there too, especialy with the great financing.

Anyone care to offer their thoughts? I'd like to make a decision before the holidays and use this for a new year's road trip! (And hey, if anyone wants to give their .02 on the deal listed above for the '08, I'm open to hearing that, too.)

Many thanks - have loved reading this board, and anxious to become an Acura owner again so I can be on here legit!

I test drove both a 2008 and a 2010 TSX and preferred the 2008's dynamics and the precision of the hydraulic steering over the numb electric steering of the 2G. (On the highway, it does not have an on-center feeling and seems to need constant correction.) And I love the 1G's tight, flowing & cohesive design, especially the interior, which as the car magazines described it, seems to have higher quality materials on the dash, less hard plastics, etc. No polarizing, large chrome beak up front. The tally sheet had the 2008 a clear winner in my book. (But it's not a total wipeout. I do think the leather seats in the 2G are a bit softer & nicer.)

It took some patience to find stick in the color I wanted, (black w/ tan leather interior.)...but I did, and it was well worth it.

19500 is a pretty good price for a 2008. I have a 2007 and love it. from what I understand there is not much difference between 07-08. A big thing to look at is it Auto or MT. I purchased an auto and wish i would have waited to find a MT. There is no launch with the sport shift. Just one thing to look at. Everything else is up to you. Honda/Acura have a very good track record so warranty items should not be to big of a concern but a 2010 has warranty left on it.

I've driven both the '08 and the '10 -- although I've not yet driven the specific ones I've got my eye on, since they're both about 4 hours away.

I liked the zip of the '08, and felt the difference that I was looking for in swapping over from the TL. The '10 felt very similar to the TL, so I had a real comfort level immediately. One thing that I haven't had a chance to do is really take the '08 out on the highway and...well... speed a little. The person with me when I test drove it was more concerned about getting back to the dealership since he had been told that someone he had already engaged with once "might be coming in later, so..." Definitely guarantees I won't be buying from there!

While the driving part is very, very important, I'm actually interested in sticking with the Acura for the features that make my drive easier and safer. I spend a lot of time on the phone for work, and not having that ability to talk through the car over the past few months has been missed, as well as the ability to change radio stations, heat, look up locations, etc... etc.... Those were the features that sold me in the first place, and then it turned out to be an AWESOME drive at a great price. I have missed my Acura dearly!

I have owned a '04 6MT non Nav and a '08 6MT Nav and have driven a '10 as a loaner. I was always happy to get back into my 1G TSX. It has more feel of the road, more toss-able and as mentioned above the steering has a better feel too. My preference is the 1G TSX.

I have an 06 and my sister has a 10. I prefer the looks and driving experience of my 06. My car handles better and feels a little more peppier. I feel the road more through the steering wheel (I don't feel disconnected from the road or riding in a boat).

The 10 feels bigger and heavier, but more comfortable. I don't feel the road....I feel like I'm in a bubble. I like driving it when I'm just driving around for errands, but I prefer my 06 when I'm alone and want to drive for the fun of it.

When the TSX first came out, it was touted as an entry sports/luxury vehicle. Acura has changed its direction from being sporty (IE: NSX, integra, etc) to being more luxurious so that it can compete with Lexus and BMW. Acura eliminated the sporty 2-door RSX, and the 09-10 TSX is clearly a sign that they have changed directions. Obviously Acura is not as interested in being seen as performance-oriented as they once were.

Well dont forget Acura is filling in the old TSX with a Civic based Acura like Canada's CSX that will have an even stronger K24 while trying had to give it driving dynamics to Lexus IS250. If any auto maker can give rwd dynamics out of a fwd car, it's Honda. Remember Integra Type-R, Prelude Type SH, and 3rd gen TL? None of them really gave up much to their RWD competition other than a tad more understeer.
