08 TSX Vs 08 ISF

I just saw the specs and pics of the ISF from Lexus due out next year, and I am hoping like hell Acura is going to offer some kind of similar option with the next generation, like a Type S, or Full A-spec...as I am not a big Toyota fan (but could learn to be ) Although, I am not crazy about the stacked twin pipes on it

They are cranking up the HP to 400 on the ISF, so I am assuming it will be competing with the new M3 and my money if Acura doesnt step up to the plate. Honestly I would consider an AWD or RWD option a good enough gesture. Pleeeeeeaaaaaseeee make one Acura.

The only thing that Acura could possibly make that comes close is some sort of modded version of the TL-S.

TSX will continue to compete the A4 2.0T (or similar) and IS250

IS-F Ruined a good looking car.

The TL is more likely to compete against this new IS but I doubt we'll see a 400+HP TL for quite some time if ever.

Eight-speed automatic with paddle shifting on a 5 liter? Driving it must become like playing game boy.

The rest is pimp though

The thing that I do not understand with Acura, the TSX is designed to compete with the 3 series, IS, etc, etc. They ALL have some kind of high performance option, the 350, the M, S4, etc. IF the TSX is truly designed to compete with them, they should offer us the same option and not an option to go to the TL, which is not in the same size class or class in general.

I understand for the price, I can get a TL type S, and it will be way cheaper than the other cars options. Problem is that takes me out of the class I want to be in, that is a larger car that is in the class with the 5 series, A6's, etc. Hell, you can get a new RL for the price of the IS350 or 335i, but then you arent really getting the size of car you signed up for with the TSX or the other companies offerings. I dont need a 400HP TSX, but a 250-300HP would be nice.

Keep the TSX the way it is, I love it, but at least give me a high performance option as well, I would pay 35-45K for a high perfomance TSX that was on par with these other cars, cause I love the size and sportiness factor, the TL and RL do not hit that note with me. Honda offers a Civic, then a high performance (relative) Civic SI. Any company that can put out such a phenom as the S2000 is capable of doing much better with this niche market. I think Acura is where BMW was 20 years ago after the 3 series wasnt progressing much and they offered higher performance options; though we are in a better time table, as the TSX is still in its first generation.

IMO, a high performance TSX>>>>>>>than BMW, Audi, Lexus, since it would be from honda (reliable), more for the money kind of deal.

Sorry for the rant...Acura converted me from BMW, and I hope they can keep relevant in the coversation.

If you want a hyper-performance ACURA, get an NSX.

TSX won't be going that route anytime soon...

I think I'd rather see a TSX rally car

Well, there is the A-Spec package. :-) Too bad it's just the suspension, but it's something....

I understand for the price, I can get a TL type S, and it will be way cheaper than the other cars options. Problem is that takes me out of the class I want to be in, that is a larger car that is in the class with the 5 series, A6's, etc.
I agree, I like the nimble, smaller cars, and much larger, and you'd lose a lot, I think. But much more HP, and the FWD becomes a problem. I know, add AWD, but now you're adding a lot of weight, and a larger engine is going to throw off the balance even more -- it's already biased towards the front. At least right now, it handles pretty well.

(Although, I think a turbocharger wouldn't exactly ruin the car....)

Hell, you can get a new RL for the price of the IS350 or 335i, but then you arent really getting the size of car you signed up for with the TSX or the other companies offerings. I dont need a 400HP TSX, but a 250-300HP would be nice.

For a while, they didn't have a Si option, and then they had the hatchback, but I don't think it was all that much compared to the normal car. Only recently has the Si really been a big jump in performance from the normal models.

Technically, I guess you could go with a V6 Accord, too... TOV suggested that the V6 was probably underrated. But there doesn't seem to be a factory A-Spec option to match the power....

Any company that can put out such a phenom as the S2000 is capable of doing much better with this niche market. I think Acura is where BMW was 20 years ago after the 3 series wasnt progressing much and they offered higher performance options; though we are in a better time table, as the TSX is still in its first generation.
20? I think BMW has had performance versions of their cars long before that, even for the 3.

IMO, a high performance TSX>>>>>>>than BMW, Audi, Lexus, since it would be from honda (reliable), more for the money kind of deal.

Sorry for the rant...Acura converted me from BMW, and I hope they can keep relevant in the coversation.
I think Honda considers the entire balance of the car, and I like their sensible approach to things. The S2000 is a real performance car, but it was designed that way from the start, not designed as something else with a bigger engine stuffed in. Sometimes I feel like some other cars are not quite as nicely designed; like, the G35 series just seems like a good sedan, but with a crazy amount of power. The IS-F already has some competition; I'm sure Nissan can throw in an upgraded/bigger engine in if they have to.

Who cares about the Lexus. Really, I saw it at the auto show...not impressed. And you know that the cost of the car is going to be outrageous for a small cracker jack box car like the IS....

As far as I like my TSX so much, it has no match to Toyota/Lexus fineness and quality.

more like the next NSX vs IS-F... no way a TSX (or TL) will ever have numbers to compete.

IS-F is out there to answer to the M3 and S4... and as everyone put it, way different class from the tsx. (though I'd love to drive a 400HP NA V8 TSX RWD).

I think the next gen TSX will beat the isht out of the IS250 on price/options/performance, but the IS350 is pretty tough to beat. You aren't going to get 305 hp easily out of a 4 cyl, even if its a turbo.

Shove a v8 in the IS, and the TSX will probably be outclassed.

it would be awesome if Acura did make a 6 cylinder performance TSX. as for the IS-F, that car looks badass....the only gripe that i have with that car is the "stacked" exhaust pipes. other than that, that is just a really nice looking car for Lexus.
