06 Wipers are Shite
A strong statement, no doubt.
I have had my 06 TSX for 2 months. The wipers already suck. I never thought they were such hot sh-t to begin with (they look cool though). It hadn't rained that much this summer until last thursday. But the last 5 days gave me chance to really see how the new aero wipers work.
My conclusion: not very well. Streaking and CHATTER (and chatter) (and chatter).
I will be switching to PIAA Super Sportza Silicone wipers pronto. I have used them before and they are amazing (SilBlades also). The silicone blade does not degrade in sunlight. They last for years and wipe better after 2 years than even brand new natural rubber wipers.
Very un-Honda like for function to follow form, but that is what happened here.
In sum, 06 blades....look good, but don't work well.

Wipers are the suck @ low speeds but doing 125km/hr with the rain coming down hard, those things held up really well. No skipping, completely clear windshield.
Now my driver side window and passenger windows are squeaking BADLY. Time to use the fix in the other thread, or take it in cuz I'm on vacation and don't want to do any work!

Wow have I had opposite luck or what?
I find that the wipers are really effective--I've never had any smearing problems and they don't skip or chatter, even when the windshield is dry. At freeway speeds, they work even better. I think the lip on the forward edge of the wipers acts like a spoiler.
If your chattering wipers don't appear dry rotted or otherwise abnormal, I'd seriously consider placing blame on the springs in the wiper arms themselves--maybe they just aren't stout enough and/or they aren't tempered correctly.
I'm pretty sure those wiper blades require some weight, and cheesy springs aren't going to provide that.

I find the new wipers get dirt stuck under them really easily. If I'm not diligent about cleaning off the surface of the wipers on a regular basis, they streak and chatter constantly, which drives me nuts. However, a good wipe down with a damp paper towel pretty much cleared it. I have contemplated switching to something else after the winter this year. I figure that I'll let the shitty mid-Atlantic winter waste away the ones already on the car.

clean your wipers and windshield with rubbing alcohol. Also - with 06's, if your still within 1 yr/12k miles the dealer with replace your inserts for free. I have a feeling that your first set of wipers always suck - any car ive ever owned once you replace them once, clean everything with rubbing alcohol, and everything is awesome. Remember not to wax your windwhield too -

How can I do this?
Acura needs to get GM wiper tech?!?! I had a 2000 Grand Am before this and I hated the wiper system on that car.

my wipers work wonderfully... sometimes the passenger side one chatters when there's not much water on the windsheild but as soon as it gets wet fully it works AMAZINGLY, I had PIAA wipers on my civic, and while they worked great, these I have to admit work much better when you're on the highway and it's raining heavily...

How clean is your windshield?
You might have something on the windshield creating extra drag for the wipers. Windex is not enough to keep your windshield residue free. I bet your windshield feels not as smooth compared to body of the car.
I’ve found waxing and/or claying my front window and cleaning the wiper blades with Windex keeps the blades smooth and chatter free longer. Sometimes you can see the residue on the windshield while waxing if the light is just right. A windshield should feel almost as smooth as the body after a good waxing.
I have a Sears’s 10” Craftsman random motion Buffer/Polisher and it takes me about 5 mins to wax the front windshield (great investment, very even wax distribution, no hand fatigue).
You can use Rain-X but that seems to work OK at first and then it makes the chatter worst over time, IMO. Every one has a bottle of wax lying around, try this before spending $$ on new wipers.
Chatter free for +120 days and counting.

I thought my 05 was bad but the 06 loaner i have now sucks even more. You figure that since the loaner only has 5000 miles on it that the wipers should work fine but i found out last night that this wasnt the case. I havent driven the loaner on the highway when it rains so i wouldnt know if its better on highways.

i use rain-x on both the windsheild AND on the wiper blades... when i do that the chatter dissapears completely... I think what makes it come back is the detergent from the wiper fluid that the dealership topped up at the oilchange... rain-x windsheild washer fluid makes everything better!

Same problem
I agree- I hate the blades on my 06 TSX. However, I haven't been able to find any that fit the car. Every 16 inch blade that I get for the passenger side hits the side of the windshield. Has anybody found a blade that fits the passenger side?

I had some of the same problems with my blades. The driver's side was starting to streak really badly, so I decided to replace them. I went to the dealer and bought a replacement blade. I asked the parts guy if there was a trick to installing them, but he didn't know since he hadn't seen an 06 blade yet. We both went out to my car to look at it and he was stumped. So he went and asked a service guy how to replace the blade. Once we figured out how to get the rubber boot off the arm, the blade went in w/o problem. The blade works 100 times better now. Perfect wiping, no streaking and no chatter. I wonder if all the salt spray on the boat coming over does something to the blade, because even when brand new, the original blades never worked as well as the replacement.

My 06's wipers used to get streaky. Every month or so, I "condition" the wipers by spraying Multi-Surface Pledge on a towel and wiping the wiper blades with this. This works great!

I'll chime in again on another wiper thread. Toss your oem blades and get Bosch Icons. No more wiping with alcohol, window polish or any of that crap. Pay a little extra up front for a product that will last and works great!
