Question 06 > 05 (and previous)?

It seems like a pretty even split among ziners. You decide.

I voted NO because I weighed it more toward the appearance side.

I really don't like the new rims on the 06. Also, not a big fan of the new front end. But I do really like the new upgrades to the seats, aux input, nav, etc. So "No Preference" for me.

I can't believe the results of this.

As a person who is buying now and could choose either, the 06 is the obvious choice. Only a bunch of 04/05 owners would generally say otherwise.

What if you all already had the stuff that is going to be on the 06 and Acura just announced the update and it was going to only be what the 04/05 cars are. What if it was the other way around?

-What?!! Now you have to pay for fog lights and tack them in the holes like aftermarket?
-What happened to the BlueTooth feature? I couldn't live without that.
-Why did they take away the Aux input???
-Dang, my older car has memory seats, glad I didn't wait for that new one.
-Look how bloated the front end looks; there is a cheesy chrome strip on the hood!!!
-The lower opening has no shape, just some rectangle; doesn’t match grill.
-Those wheels look like every other seven spoke on the road.
-No smoked reverse light and starburst pattern???
-Look at that junk Acura sticker in the middle of the skinny steering wheel, cheep.
-Oh,!!! The valves, intake and exhaust ports are all smaller and there is less HP!!!
-The exhaust is more restrictive!
-The clutch and torque converters are going to be less rugged?
-The brake assist feature is no longer electronically controlled.
-They took away the Royal Blue Pearl, that was my favorite color.
-What happened to the lower skirt, guess the new buyers gota get a kit to make it look like that?
-WTF they lowered the powertrain warranty, man I'm glad I didn't wait!!!
-The nav has less memory and a slower processor. What where they thinking!!!
-No restaurant guide, I use that every other week when I'm on a business trip.
-What did they do to the gauges, they look cheaper, and the MID is way scaled down.
-Where did the other 4 wheel mounted controls go!!!
-This car is going way in the wrong direction, closer to civic features than TL.
-Guess my next car will be am IS, a BMW, a G35, Bla, Bla, Bla...

Think of it this way, you have gotten to enjoy your inferior 04 and 05 for at least a year and are that much closer to trading up to the next major redesign.

If you are attached to some of the styling of your car, that's understandable. But don't let it skew your sense of reality enough to think the 06 changes are not on the whole an improvement on the 04/05. You are going to be way disappointed when you go to sell in a few years and find out how much more an 06 is worth, even with the fog lights and wheels that you don't personally think are as attractive.

I was a little shocked by the initial results as well. At first, the 05 and previous was running away with it.

Although there's a good argument to pick the 05's and prior in terms of styling, the extras on the 06's make it a definite hit.

So I take it you like the 06 better?

I think I'd have to see the car in person (06) before I can participate in this poll...

But for now, I'm with vwong

I voted no because it's real funny to listen to someone get all huffy hyper and hot about which fookin' year is better. The 06 is obviously worse, since 06 could be stated as zero-six, which sounds like zero-sex, which I'm sure most will agree is a bad thing. 05 might be pronounced "naught-five", which could be transformed into "naught-funf", which sure sounds a lot like "naughty fun". Naughty fun is always better than zero sex. Of course, the less-than-prescient poll-designer forgot to include the 04 model year. Oh-four crying out loud ...

And, as for those making statements like " ... your inferior 04 and 05 ...", Jeez Louise, dude, get a life. It's a car, man, that's all, not an affirmation of your superiority. Or is it?

I agree with this guy. Even the, "Jeez Louise, dude, get a life", part. The inferior statement was part of the joke gone wild.

Glad I got the 05.

I don't like the rims and fogs. As far as the grill, bumpers.... I'll wait to see it parked beside the 05 before I say anything.

But there are features on the 06 I would like.

In another thread they show a front view pic of the 2006 and a 2005 for comparison purposes if you want to see them side by side. Sorry, dont remember what thread that was in,......probably the one with pics of the 2006.

I said no,.........because I think the 04/05 looks better. I dont really care about having bluetooth because I will never use it and whatever else,.......memory seats would be nice though. Regardless,...............at one dealer they were prepared to agree to give me a 2006 for the price we agreed on for a 2005 (that they couldnt find for me what I wanted),........Im glad I found the 2005 I wanted somewhere else and got that,...........I would have been disappointed had I chose to wait and ended up with a 2006.

Its fair to say both cars are nice,..............I dunno what all this inferior talk is.

I voted yes because I think it looks more aggressive and the new features really appeal to me.

I like the new navi coverage in canada and faster process, etc. I will get navi for sure.

I dont care about rims because I most likely will get volks. But those are nice for winter.

The bluetooth is a big plus for me since I plan to get a 6MT and I can use my steering wheel and the cars speakers to talk on my cell phone. So I can still shift and pay attention to the road.

All in all I always trusted honda, they always make the best choices. The 06 refresh is a nice improvement. Just like my 2001 accord refresh was a nice improvment over the 1998 accords! hehehehehehhehe sorry 1998-2000 owners. hehe Just kidding they are same.

I think this poll needs a little correction for potential bias (I know I know...an opinion IS a bias) based on current TSX ownership. So choices like:

NO, and I currently own a TSX
NO, and I currently do not own a TSX
YES, and I currently own a TSX
YES, and I currently do not own a TSX

I voted YES, I am afraid I would have voted YES as well if I currently owned a TSX...and I would have been envious of soon to be 06 owners!

Exterior 06 < Exterior 05

Interior Features 06 > Interior Features 05

Wheels 06 < Wheels 05

White/Ebony Combo 06 > All color combos 05

I'm sorta split. That should have been one of the choices in the vote. "Can't decide"

I voted no. They are going the absolutely wrong way with styling (front end looks like a Solara now, 9 spoke stock rims are terrible), and even with those changes, don't make believe this is a full model makeover. If you drove both back to back, you wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference, unlike the difference between a e46 bimmer and the new ones. I bet it wont even get a car test or write-up in Car and Driver or any other magazine for that matter. Im not sure it would be worth the wait, nor the dealer markup for the 06.

Try to remember that its still basically the same car, with the same k24 engine,, etc. 04-05-06 all good cars......

I agree w/ vwong, not liking the 06 appearence all that much, but the increase in HP and technical improvements make it better than pre-06

I wonder how the results of this poll break down between 04&05 owners and non-owners.

I think he said sometime next summer, if the Lexus doesn't sway him first. You don't need to own a TSX to be here.

Overall, I'd say the "facelift" was rather pointless. It really doesn't look much better or much worse. The only thing I don't like is the front bumper. It is more aggressive and sportier, but I don't think it fits with the flow of the car like the old one did.

Let's just face it guys. Every car will be old the following year. So be glad in what you have now. You can't keep buying a new model year everytime you see a minor changes on them....can you?
