there is no external filter, its in the tank and is not serviceable

ACURATECHTX, for gftgrill's interest, is the filter shown in this fuel tank diagram? looking at the parts list, i don't see anything "...filter."

Good to know. It's amazing how little maintenance this car needs.

It says it's serviceable in my service manual. It even has the instructions on how to replace it.

Sure anything is REPLACEABLE however not everything is " serviceable" what i mean by that, is there is no needed maintanance on the filter
If you do get a tank of bad gas you can replace the filter/pump assy
so yes you can replace it but its not normally needed
the TSX has a very easy filter assy to replace just unplug it and loosen the lock ring on top of the tank , pull out old part be careful it will be full of gas...

afici0nad0. to answer you querstion the filter/ pump assy is number 37 in your diagram ( thats right its one piece and its evpensive)

Technically, the filter assembly can be replaced "IF" you can find a replacement. Currently, it may be next to impossible to buy just the filter. Therefore, you are forced to replace the entire fuel pump assembly which includes the filter.

It says in the service manual to replace it every 75,000 miles (120,000km).

Not for US Spec 04-05 or 06...per US Acura Service Manual. Just calls for change if fuel flow is restricted or pressure drops...

Musta been a special request from the Aussie dealers to help pump up their service income!

No matter what, fuel filters will eventually block up. The last fuel filter I replaced on our 94' Accord was full of a gel-like substance. The only source of that gel would be from the fuel. I have no qualms paying an extra $100 over 75,000 miles to replace the fuel filter. It's better to pay $100 for that rather than have to replace the head and pistons because of damage from not enough fuel being supplied when running at full throttle and high RPM when on the track.

That's the price for the whole fuel pump. Not just the filter.

That's a real bonehead system. It's still the stupidest thing I've ever heard and seen. I guess engineers from all over the world are dumbing down. I've always said, manufacturers are designing vehicles to eventually squeeze out the independent mechanic. Just a matter of time that the only place to honor warranty and any service will be at the stealer.

aaronng . AGAIN there is no FILTER, IT IS ALL PART OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY..

you have to buy the whole pump (300.00) to get the filter

it is NOT sold seperately

you CANT go to auto zone and get one

you HAVE to order the ENTIRE FUEL PUMP in order to get the FILTER

so yes the " filter" will cost you $ 300.00 ( but look at it this way you get a free fuel pump included in that 300.00 filter )

Don't forget aaronng is Down Under...I can't tell what might be different about his fuel system without looking at an Aussie Service Manual. If the governement mandates something, perhaps certain fuel system requirements, Honda might have a different design of fuel pump/filter for the Aussies...just a thought.

While I hate the integrated filter, at 100,000 miles, I'd like to replace the pump too...of course, it's still a stupid design!

thats true his may be different??? if it is then I retract my statements and lets all go drink a nice cold fosters.

i dont know

gday mate

and it not just the TSX all 04 and newer Acura vehicles ( U.S market ) are like this.

technically you could take the filter/ pump assy out and clean it ( the filter is not inclosed in anything so you could clean it with some fresh gas or something)

No worries mate

The TSX might have a different filter system to ours then. I'm sorry I assumed that the TSX had the same type as ours and turned this thread into an argument.

This is ours, filter assembly is part A which is replaced:

And this might be the TSX's, part A is replaced and it seems to be the whole pump:

It's called the Accord Euro here. Silly name considering that we also get the Accord here. We usually just called the "Euro".

Here's a generic pic. The only standout is that ours gets clear parkers, slightly less power 190hp for the 04, and our non-navi audio and A/C control panel looks nicer:

Well, I'd love to take full credit...but it was just a lucky guess from viewing the US Service Manual and noting it didn't seem to match what aaronng was saying...

...I love the fact we found a difference, now we can debate why there is a difference!!! For aaronng, do you have any idea why the filter would be different in Oz?

Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

I think it's because the Oz spec Accord Euro is taken from the same production line as the UK spec Accord. We get the same 190hp engine that they get as well. Also, the TSX is sold at a cheaper price than Oz and UK spec, so maybe they went for an integrated filter and pump to reduce costs.

yeah sorry again for bein an ass ( rough day yesterday) I spoke to my former district service manager this morning about the difference he said they are different because American markets have much stricter environmental standards
and the one piece design is less restrivtive, to allow a better flow of fuel to and from the engine. and apparently that decreases emmissions .... somehow??//
doesn't make much sense but it is a much more costly design.
maybe thats why we pay 30,000 for a tsx ? (including tax)

I like the clear corners but those wheels

There isn't a fuel return line or a fuel regulator from the fuel rail on the USDM TSX like the previous Honda engines. Is there any benefit for fitting the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel pump, other than one less fuel line (return line)? I suppose you have to replace the entire fuel pump if the regulator is bad as well.

I dont see any benifit other than less fuel lines ( maybe its safer less lines = less things to break)

when my DSM was telling me all of that i thought that he was just making up stuff so he could leave

none of what he said sounded 100% correct but I dont know

so i left it alone

i will see if i can find more information for us.

I was looking at the euro on honda. com and the special edition wheels are sweet.

Yeah, they get those wheels on at least 1 model of the Euro here. In 2005, the Luxury model came with them, then in 2006, the Euro Sport Edition (which also had a JDM DC5R knob (red lettering), alloy pedals and 1/2 leather 1/2 alcantara seats). Now in 2007, it's the Special Edition. The equivalent model to the TSX is the Luxury, which has leather, HIDs, sunroof and foggies cost US$33,600! Much more expensive than the TSX. The only reason why they can sell it at that price is because over here a 325i goes for US$60,516!!!!!!!

This is the non-navi on the 03-05.

The 06-07 gets white and blue speedo and tacho, a trip computer located above the hazard light switch and a better looking hazard switch too. Here's the 06-07 but navi-equipped.

I must say, I like the V theme...kinda an inverted Acura "A", except it's a Honda in Oz!

Basically the same center cluster as the US model Honda Accord. No offense but I prefer the TSX dash myself.

Yeah, the speedo and tacho are the same as the JDM Accord, which is also used on the US model Accord. The TSX gets the special dash treatment which is not found on any of the Honda models in the world. But I still prefer our audio/aircond controls for the non-Navi compared to the TSX's.

The only upside I can think of it are those who want to turn their TSX into a JDM Accord being envious of our instruments.

BTW, sorry to everyone for hijacking this thread.
