'05 CGP/Ebony TSX - did i buy right?

When i initially posted my "OMG I JUST GOT MY TSX" thread, i forgot to mention how much i actually purchased the car for. Now, i need your opinions as to whether or not i got a good deal so i can feel good about myself.

I paid 24,500 before TTL.
2005 CGP/Ebony
Non-NAV
5AT
All-Season floor mats/splashguards/wheel locks

What do you all think? Oh, and lifetime oil changes for free.

Hmm....you can get a brand new '06 for $26,200 or so? Keep in mind that the difference in MSRP between '06 and '05 is about $700. So $26,200 - $700 = $25,500. Take off about $1k for the 6k miles and you are at $24,500. So I think you did pretty decent. Is it certified with extended warranty?

ok ill be honest.. im sick of everyone telling me about the MT and Navi. I know that navigation is a great option, but im sure ill live without it.. i have for this long! Also.. MT in my mind is for sports cars. The TSX to me is not a sports car, but rather a luxury car and as such, i think is better suited with an AT. disagree if you please, that's just how i see it. I wouldn't buy an Auto STI or EVO.. (not that they come in auto anyway) but you get my point. I think.

Ninjamyst - yes, the car is certified with extended warranty to 62k bumper to bumper and 100k for drivetrain, drive axles, trans.

I think that you got a pretty decent deal. 6K miles is nothing on an Acura and the fact that you got free oil changes for life is worth it!

Congrats on your new TSX!

thanks! i dont really want to start a new thread on it unless i have to so ill just ask it here:

i want to get the OEM body-kit, but have the splashguards on my sideskirts, and i heard they leave marks if you take them off for the body-kit sides. That being said, does the kit not flow right if i were to just get the front and rear portions, or can i get by and still look good with just front and rear?

i'm new to that sort of thing, so any help would be great!

thanks for all the input guys.. any opinions are appreciated.

Congrats, decent deal. I have an auto myself, but I use it as a daily commuter to work (eat and talk on cell phone type of person), so that's why I never even think of using MT. And I don't drive fast anyways, I just like to cruise myself. Having Navi is great (I have one myself), but if you want to save the extra 2k for something else (like rims?), by all means that's a good idea too!

I think you'd be fine with just the front and the back lips. The sides are the least noticable changed and the front is the most.

Thanks for saying this. The bias on this board towards MT and Navi is just ridiculous. I could have had navi, and I said screw it...There's $1600 I'd rather spend on the warranty and things that are MORE IMPORTANT. I was beginning to feel like I was the only one that could care less about a navi...it's just not necessary.

I agree it's your money you buy whichever model/color/option navi or non-navi. I based my purchase on my own decisions not others.

Totally agree.

Although I still traded my 04 AT for an 04 MT.

I always wondered, now the novelty of MT has worn off, do you miss having an AT, dom?

Maybe so, but with relatively low torque, an close-ratio MT is better mated to this engine than the auto counterpart.
And shifting in this car never gets old. The shifter, the clutch feel is just sooo nice.

As for your purchase price, I think you would've been better off with a new '06.
Once you factor in the year of depreciation, I think it'll make more sense to go with a new car (peace of mind knowing it was broken in properly by yourself).

luckily it was acura's own car so im sure it is fine. To each his own about MT/AT. AT in this car feels better to me, and is more of a comfortable drive, while for some, they cant live without MT.

Lux cars should have AT.. close-ratio MT and low torque shouldn't matter when the car is for stylin..not racing, and i think we all know the TSX is no indy car.

Yes i totally agree. This is a beautiful car regardless MT or AT. But its aways nice to know you can get on it and go if you need too. I like to think as my '04 6MT as a lux sport sedan
