04 TL owner who is currently driving a TSX

Well my TL is in the shop right now, and the dealer gave me an 04 TSX loaner with about 13000 miles on it. I have to say that I am impressed. The car is very agile and quick. The handling is better than my TL, I can attack corners comfortably at a much higher speed. The acceleration is good (but not as good as my car of course...hehe).

On a side note, though, there appears to be some electrical problem with the car...the backlight for the climate control and the radio is not working (with our without the headlights) I cannot see what station I am listening to or what the temp setting is.

Try changing the brightness using the cluster rotary "knob" - it works on the dash lights even with the exterior lights off.

that's one of the more common problems w/ the TSX unfortunately, the backlight of the console has been dying on people

happed to mine as well, they fixed it last week. The stereo actually has a motherboard that controls the lighting and some other functions. It went and so did all the lights on the console. THey had to replace the entire stereo, thank god for warranty

Well I live in the hills surrounding silicon valley, and to get to my house you have to take a 1 mile curvy hill road. In my TL I was able to attack those corners at about 45-50mph but with the TSX I find myself getting up to 60 almost with no problem at all.

And btw, I tried adjusting the brightness nob and nothing happened, I guess this car is having the same problem others have described. I should tell the dealer upon returning it so that the next person can at least tell what they are listening to...

"easter egg" may be the cause

try holding down the CD/AUX button on the stereo for 10 seconds. this is one of the "easter eggs" that are mentioned elsewhere on the forum. You can toggle on/off most of the dash lights (not speedo and tach) by holding the CD/AUX button for about 10 seconds (it also makes a loud beep)

Yeah, totally sounds like the same problem I had, it is a warranty issue. The stereo still works right? Just the lights are gone on the console.
