#$^*@#&#$^ 04 TL Loaner

Disclaimer: I am happy with my TSX and "for the price" I believe" I could not have made a better purchase.

Now on to my rant:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why oh why did they give me a TL loaner?

Due to the fact that I'm a cheap bastard, I did not even test-drive the TL when I got my TSX. Whie the lower sticker price and better gas mileage won me over, these don't really amount to a much when compared to everything else the TL offers.

Everything, and I do mean every knob, switch and subtle accent, is so much more upscale. On top of that, the car is much lower, which makes it easier for a midget like me to clean the roof of the car.

But, what really surprised me was the speed with which the TL navi responded to inputs and found destinations. Did they use celerons for the TSX, or what?

End of rant.

Well, for $5000 more, I don't think its really worth it, except that I do like the stock styling of the TL over the stock styling of the TSX.

They gave you a TL Loaner because they want people who drive TSXs to upgrade in the future to something better.

You mean the mismatched interior surface textures of the TL didn't elicit some allergic reaction?

Agreed. I got a TL loaner and for all the hype that the stereo got, the radio and SAT sounded no different to me. With my I/E, lowering and various other mods, I'm completely happy with my 6mt TSX. I felt as if I was driving a boat in the TL. Sure its nice, but I simply love the agility of the TSX. I've only spent 1k thus far on all my mods. I would've had $0 to put into the TL, not to mention it wasn't even available when I got my TSX.

Dealers are sneaky like that, anything to get you to spend the extra $$$ next time around.

I feel you though man, i want a TL too...I just can't stand the handling, i'm gonna wait till the SH-AWD comes out on the TL and see if that makes a big difference before I step up...everything from the bluetooth/HFL to the ability to program whether the doors autolock to the bi-xenons make me love that car. Just needs to be more fun to drive

Consider yourself lucky, here in Canada we always get a fucking EL.

The TL's interior does feel like a more upscale TSX interior, but its not that drastically different.
Now the RL... That car has an interior to die for... oh man, cooled seats .

I know TL is faster, is more luxury and it looks good too but it is still not made in Japan so I never consider it!

Yeah, it is an "upscale" compared to the TSX. Now go trade your TSX for one.

As someone who initially had the TL as my #1 choice, I ended up getting the TSX due to the following:

- The TSX is lighter and better balanced. Since I was hell-bent on a 6-MT, I test drove the TL and it felt like a large Accord that should come in Auto only. The TSX felt more agile and better matched with a 6-spd
- The TSX has a better designed motor in the K24. The old J32 motor on the TL is from the old TL-S and was designed for more low-end torque for everyday driving. The K24 is a higher revving machine with more potential.
- Despite the TSX being much smaller on the exterior, it only sacrifices less than an inch in rear legroom and hiproom. And unlike the TL, the rear seats fold down for long cargo

Keep in mind that the TL wasn't out of my financial reach -- I could just keep the $5k and buy some mods to further personalize it.

In short, the TSX is a great SPORT sedan. The TL on the other hand is a great family car.

Well, just got my baby back and couldn't be happier.

Maybe it's because I'm accustomed to the size and layout of the TSX, but I'm definitely sure I made the right decision. I initially thought the TL was so much more powerful, but it turns out that I was babying my baby. And, afterall, it was a loaner.

My only pet peeve with the TSX is, again, the steering wheel. I noticed it on my previous RSX loaner and also today with the TL. I am seriously thinking of getting a leather wrap or something that will add GIRTH. Yeah baby, yeah~~

As for upgrading, I will give this car a few more years before I decide whether to go for another brand or stick with Acura.

My vote is for the modified RL that can compete w/ Infiniti M and Lexus GS300. More power, room, and tighter suspension. I'll pony up $55k for it if they can get it ready by 2009.

For 55k, I'd just buy an M3 or used M5.

+1. M3 is infinitely better looking, faster, better handling, etc. The only thing I like about the RL is the gadgets, and I could care less about AWD.

You haven't dealt with the hassles of having to FIX BROKEN DOWN CARS. Heck with used cars.

weird.. i ended up in a TL because i couldn't find a CG 6MT navi TSX anywhere. i needed a new car and couldn't wait... no real regrets except for when i'm cornering hard... or when i see a nicely modded TSX's (damn this forum!) haha.

i like the styling of the TSX better, too... much classier, sorta like the 2G TL, but a bit modernized. and, believe it or not, one of my biggest gripes is that the TL has the horrid 4 spoke steering wheel, instead of a 3 spoke on the TSX.

Yeah, for that much more I would have gone with a 325i. For me, the size of the TSX is just about right.

On a side note - do you ask for loaners when you take your car in for oil change?

Do it when you schedule the appointment. If they tell you they don't have one available then ask to schedule it when they do.
