Upper Ball Joints with OE style ball joints!!

So I desperately needed upper ball joint replaced on the right side. The only thing offered is =/- 1 degree correction ball joints which are more universal than oem replacement. I didn't want to spend $150+ per upper control arm new just to get them replaced. I almost gave up all hope and did one last search.

ball joints

coni-seal didn't call me back and only sell to dealers.

AUTO EXTRA # AXK90469
was found on ebay.

so I ordered 2 and hoped for the best.

I rented the ball joint separator and honda adapter kit and took it all apart. The old ones came out nicely and the new ones FIT!! took me about 2 hours total to do it all.

I didn't take pics since KaMLung did a very nice writeup replace control arm and only thing different is using the press to just replace ball joints vs replacing the whole arm

So this is an exact fit to replace OEM part? Let me know as I am in need of a passenger side one too.

Can you get a shot of what they look like installed when you get a chance? I just did a search of that part number on eBay and have found three different stock photos of the part from three different sellers. I wonder if they are all the same.

2 have the same part #. ball joint this is the exact auction I bought my 2 from. the other day only one result was showing on ebay but the one from summit states thats a stock photo. so i'm guessing it will be different since it shows it fits on their chart and a few dollars cheaper.

What about this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Auto-Extra-M...a#ht_500wt_689

It shows the part number as interchangeable.

when i used the vehicle search, it didn't fit. you would have to contact that seller.

when I made a sharp left turn, like pulling out of the driveway, it would make a clunk sound. The way to test is jack the car up and try to move the tire back and forth.

i didn't see those on amazon. but if it's the same part, both are still way cheaper than the whole upper control arm that most just replace. 1 year warranty.

your welcome! I figured this would be some useful information for others to save $200 instead of buying the whole arm.

thanked post?

Was the clunking constant or just a single *clunk*? And did it shake your steering wheel if it did?

for me it was a single clunk when I would turn. like turning to back out of the driveway. didn't feel anything in the steering wheel.

when my upper ball joints went, i just replaced the whole arm because at the time i couldn't find just the ball joint replacements...

i think i may have a spare arm laying around if all it needs is a new ball joint...

I've just put a pair on a couple of weeks ago. The diameter of the balljoints that goes into the opening on control arm are slightly larger than the originals, but they went on just fine with a little effort.

I didn't need the ball joint separator because it popped out when I knocked on what it went through. What I did loan was the ball joint press and the Honda adapter kit.

Interesting to see 2.5 and 3.2 both use the same upper ball joint.

Forgot to mention. Plan on having a pneumatic or electric impact wrench. It is impossible to press it out using hand tools
