Question 235/35/19 on 2.5...

ok, so the guy i got my car from put some 16's on it after one of his factory's bit the dust.... SO, on these 16's are 215/60/16 yokohamas (love the tires)... i'm looking to go the 19" route, but don't know of anyone whose done it in our car (mine's a 2.5)...

anyhoo, i've been measuring and looking at tire diameters and here's what i'm finding...

my tire diameter currently is 26.16", at 8.5" wide at the tread; a tire measuring 235/35/19 is only 25.48" in diameter, and 9.3" wide at the tread.....

a tad shorter in height, but about 3/4 of an inch wider at the tread... poking around with my tape measure, it seems like this will fit, and i'm gonna do it- just gotta make sure i choose the right offset.

just figured i'd share this info, and see if anyone's successfully run 19's on this car, and if so, how'd it work out? rub? could you turn? lol

1st of all, it is pretty hard to find 19" 4 lug wheels....at least decent looking ones but see if you can find decent looking wheels you like that are 19" 4 lugs. The only brand that carries 19" 4 lugs +42 offset are RacingHart

actually, there are a few companies that make them that size/bolt pattern-

enkei makes several wheels in that size/bolt, but they're mostly racing styles (which i'm not a huge fan of that look on our cars). a few are drilled for 4x100 and 4x114.3. also, katana makes a few in 19/4x114.3- chrome, silver, black chrome, black) - i'm getting the 'inspire' (imagine that ) which comes in chrome, black chrome (which is the one i'm getting- different look than chrome- chrome is everywhere.....). and there's a few more brands-

i just haven't seen anyone with 19's on a gen1... so i'm curious about fitment- i actually have my wheels en route (should have them next thursday- couldn't wait!!)... if they don't fit, hey i'll sell them and start over... lol

hope i can still turn!!!! i'll keep everyone posted, pics to come!!!!!!

yeah there are a few members here with 19s on a 2.5. 19s on a 3.2 most likely will rub which is one of the positive aspects of having a 2.5. 2.5 can fit a smaller offset than the 3.2 so we can also have a fatter lip than the 3.2.

good stuff.... i'm not too much a fan of drops (i like getting into my bank parking lot), but if the gap between the tire and the wheelwell looks oogly i guess that'll be next on my list.... maybe an inch or so..

rain rain go away!!!
