'08 TL Rims rubbing

So I bought a set of 04-08 TL rims and when I go over big bumps, or corner too hard, the back 1/4 inch of the tires rub on the wheel well. They're just a little too big.

My Question: How often should we change the shocks on our cars? I'm thinking that (since I've never changed them and I have 161,000 miles) if I change them, the ride will be stiffer and won't rub.

What do you think? ANy other suggestions? Tire size is (brand new) 235/45/17

You are better rolling fenders. Shocks have nothing to do with it..

Usually tech's will tell you to replace shocks every 60K miles but I don't really go with that. I'd wait for the leak or the shitty ride....lol

Shocks do matter, but rolling the fender will be the easiest and cheapest way out right now, and also if you lower the car in the future, you already have rolled fenders so you don't have to worry about rubbing.

If you heat up the fender, then get a fender roller, you won't crack the paint. I'd take it to a shop to have it done, though, if you aren't sure of yourself. People have used baseball bats, but if you aren't experienced with that method, it can cause problems.

~Cheers~

He man, he....

Yes I had to roll the rears. No two ways about it. Gotta roll it. Rent a roll a fender kit. $60.00 for 4 days.

I bought a body repair kit and went with heating with industrial heater (need heat so the paint will not crack) and bang, bang, bang....worked. Some use baseball bats. The body kit had a perfect shaped hammer, though. If you want I can post bthe kit. But the kit is available at any Northern Tool or Harbor Freight, $30 for the set.

But trust me, the fender roller is half easy to do. If I were to do it again, I would rent.

Or buy a set for $200, try fleabay. So can see the pricing.

Just type: fender roller....

Good luck.

Hey thanks for the reply, Mandy. I'd be more interested in seeing how your rear fenders look!

Well there's nothing to show. But will take pics of the fender so you have an idea how I did it.

From the outside you will not see anything different. But when you touch the lip, it is rolled.

Will post pics later.

Hey, don't stress about the pictures. I was just curious if you could tell they were rolled, but I watched a couple YouTube videos on how to do it and I feel I've been educated.

Thanks for all the help, guys.
