take distributor apart

I got a 96 2.5 tl the seals on the distributor are bad, I got the new seals but don’t know how take the distributor apart it’s been already uninstalled from engine, any ideas?

It can be done and I've done it, but it is tricky. The shaft is peened to rotor bracket and must be ground off to allow removal, and re-peened afterwards. Notice carefully the order of parts when disassembling to enable reassembly. This is a tricky repair and has ample opportunity for failure.

Looking at distributor you think if you can remove the camshaft key, the distributor shaft will come out the top, but that is not the case.

Seal is a "bastard" that is not the same as Accords, et al. I used a 10mmID x19mmOD x 4mmL seal from Rocket Seals. It was slightly shorter (4mm vs. 5-6mm of original). It seems to have worked. I have some pics which may help. PM your email address and I'll forward.

Make sure you install the oring seal w/o obstructing the lower drain port. Some oil seepage is likely and problems will arise if drain port is not open.
