SuperCharger\Tranny =(

Hey guys i have a few problems that i haven't been able to figure out yet. When i turn my car on in the morning my TL sounds like it has a supercharger. Around 2k to 3k rpm it gets loud but when the car warms up it goes away. This started about 2 weeks ago and ive been trying to figure out what it could be. the noise is coming from the fire wall area.

Now last night 5/7/11 when i drove my TL to pick up my bro from school my tranny slipped in second gear. but when the car warmed up all gears were gripping fine after that.

Has any one else had this problem before.?

The sound could be coming from a leak in your exhaust manifold. That was the same symptom I was expericing before mines was replaced. Check your ATF level during normal operating temp. Good luck dude.

My ATF level is good. And i know its not an exhaust leak cuz that would make my car sounds like a diesel lol. When i first got my TL the exhaust manifold was cracked and i welded the whole thing shut from were it was cracked. were the pipes meet the cat.

I also i haven't gotten around to changing my ATF yet but i here ppl saying they use 4 quarts some other ppl use 8 quarts like something around that area. So am not sure how much to use if i were to do it.

the only other explanation for your tranny would be low fluid pressure when the fluid is cold and denser causing the clutch packs to not fully engage. Its either that or your trans is on its way out. Do a transmission service (pan drop/ filter) and go from there.

The startup sound may also be from your trans?

when torque converters are going out they make a loud whirling noise much like a supercharger, this like alot have already said can be caused by low fluid or a worn out torque converter

Has any one befor ever removed the mainshaft speed sensor? That countershaft speed sensor was a breeze but the mainshaft speed senor is a pain to remove due to clearance issues. If there is a special tool or something plz let me know. I've gone now for to long with out my tl. I miss my tl and wana be able to drive it again lol.
