Power steering whining

I have a 2001 Acura TL. Replaced the altenator serpentine belt and now have a loud whining noise coming from the power steering pump. The resevoir also over flowed. I looked in it and it was very frothy. I was starting to hear a little noise prior to the belt replacement but nothing like this. It was also immediate. Are these two things related?

I have read in other posts where the PS fluid needs to be replaced. Or am I just going to have to replace the PS pump.

Any advice is appreciated.

Power steering is power steering irregardless of generation as far as troubleshooting goes. Sounds like you have somehow got air in the system. Had you done any work on it or are there any leaks? That this happened after a belt change is probably just coincidental.

Try to flush the fluids. Or try adding a conditioner. Best bet for little or no investment. Good luck.
