Paint fading on outside molding

TL is starting to show its age. Is it safe to:
1. Tape newspaper surrounding the mold and
2. Spray it with black spray paint

Sounds too easy. Just wanted some thoughts before I do this..

I think everyone's having the same problems. I know that there's one member who stripped the paint completely, and another who repainted the wipers.

You should do a search to see the results.

They have this Tape that you can buy at most auto-part stores... It's flat black and it's thick, almost vinyl like... you can tape over the chrome so it doesn't rust... it's really easy to use... only... I haven't done mine b/c I'm pretty lazy..... -_-...

here's what ive done so far:
http://rubensresume.spaces.live.com/...60157D949!179/

still debating, if i take the edges off and polish it would look clean. if i didn't leave the edges then i couldn't guarantee a decent job reapplying it anew because its a very smooth curve on the panel. But the half black half chrome line kills my flush look.

In my opinion it doesn't look good when it's part chrome, part black. You should just respray it.

took a few hours. don't make the mistake of spraying too close, it may clot up. also careful spraying too far as you don't want particles landing on your paint job. btw if/when you do this, try not to let any tape touch your rubber seals because it will peel them ugly when you remove it.

I found this stuff called "Back to Black". I forget where I got it but it had to be a Pep Boys or Auto Zone. It is not a paint but works like wax. It lasts quite a while and works pretty good. It may be easeier and better than trying to paint it and have the paint peel off in a year.
