Question NewAcura Owner

First post for me yay.. great site BTW

Bought a 98 Acura 3.2tl in amazing shape. 200km's on the odometer although u would never know it.

After a week the CEL came on, I have a very good honest mechanic look at it. Tells me it p0141 ? o2 sensor bank 2 sensor 1 . Its behind the converter underneath the car. Anyway we run the tests and it turns out the sensor is getting like .7 volts. Check all the fuses and all good. So that leaves us with a broken wire.

Is the best way to check the wiring to remove the passenger seat? As its pretty tight in there.

And today for the second time the abs light comes on again. It went out by itself the last time. is there a way to check the abs system?

You can go back a couple months or do a search of ABS and find the way to read ABS codes. Once you have the code we can look up what it is. Good luck with the wiring problem.

OK the hardest part of this was finding a paper clip

and it was a large one that wouldn't stay in the little holes so with one hand i held it and the other i turned the ignition...

weird part was the CEL light flashed too it gave me a 6-5 repeating (betting it means faulty o2 sensor)

and the abs light gave me a 1-5 code repeating

ive tried to do some the leg work but ill be darned if i can find any listing of the codes... anyone know what these mean??

1-5 appears to be:
Accumulator gas leakage
Changed relief valve set pressure
Rear outlet solenoid valve late to close
Changed pressure switch set pressure

The ABS indicator light may not come on in normal climate when it comes on in very cold climate.

This diagnosis is performed when the pressure switch is off at the initial diagnosis. The pump motor is operated to turn the pressure switch on, then the solenoid valve is momentarily activated. The ABS indicator light is turned on if the pressure switch signal changes from on to off.

I have no idea what to do about any of this. TexasHonda is a much more knowledgeable source of info that I am. My ABS is inoperable right now and I'm reluctant to buy a modulator from a salvage place since I'm not sure if there was more than one for my year 3.2TL.

First thing is either you misread the code meaning or mis-typed. P0141 is Sensor 2 (there's only 1 so bank is not applicable). This is the O2 sensor behind the catalytic converter. So if you replaced one of the O2 sensors on the exhaust manifold banks, you may have wasted your money.

You may have some options; swap mis-installed sensor from Bank 2, Sensor 1 to Sensor 2 postion (may require splicing wires as harness length is probably incorrect), or try to swap the removed O2 sensor to the Sensor 2 position (same harness length problem). Or you can buy a new sensor to replace Sensor 2. I would lean towards the later solution. Check ebay for an inexpensive O2 sensor.

Of the ABS faults listed for 1-5, only leaking accumulator is repairable to my knowledge. However, it may be cheaper and better chance of repair to replace the modulator w/ a used unit. Check car-part.com for a used unit near your zipcode, go by, inspect and purchase if it looks good. Get a garuntee of a working part, as the salvage yard will not know for certain and will always tell you its a good part. Ebay may be another option for an inexpensive modulator.

Buy a 10mm flare tubing nut wrench to remove/install a modulator. Attempting to use an open end 10mm wrench on these small, tight nuts is recipe for rounding them off.

good luck

no worries about wrong part it was my bad i typed the code wrong
the actual bad sensor hasnt been replaced yet this week it will be done

1-5 from what i read is a ground fault with a RR wheel sensor.. i got the info form a web site

anyway im not going to mess with the abs ill let the mechanic do his thing

im a fair back yard mechanic but abs is a little too important ffor my half assed approach lol
thanks for the info texashonda

OK here's a quick update..

after 3 days of dry weather my abs light has gone out and with a couple of quick stops to confirm they are working properly.. having mechanic check wiring anyway when light was on one or more of the tires were locking up (hard to tell form inside car what ones)

cel light is still on but hopefully the new part that came in today will fix that ...sticker shock for me and mech price quoted for part 300 bones cdn baby hes going to double check today with company to make sure the price is right ( come on down)
