Angry Loose Steering

I recently took my 98 3.2TL to LA and while in LA I bottomed out on a huge dip in the freeway(the cement was eaten through to the gravel underneath!) Not only was there that dip, but driving there is like driving down a pot-holed dirt road at 80mph. Worst excuse of a road I have ever seen. But anyways after I got home I got in the car the next day and noticed that the steering seemed loose and the car will try to wander slightly even with the wheel held straight (no wind or extreme slope in the road) I check the bushings in the front suspension and they seemed fine(visual inspection). Struts only have 15K on them and I don't think the rack and pinion is shot(not completely at least) because it never got sticky as it did in my previous cars when it was going out in them and the play in not THAT severe. My friends dad told me that you can tighten some rack and pinions. Is that true? Any help would be great.

P.S. My car has 178k miles on it and I have 17" rims running 225/45 series

Im pretty sure it's not a bent rim, I think its something in the steering. theres no vibration or anything there is just a little play in the steering. I'll have to check the control arm. And the Ball joints.

I guess I'll start with an alignment. I'm strapped for cash right now so it will have to wait a bit

Pay $149 at firestone once and you are good for as long as you own that car.
