interior lights WTF!!!

k heres the deal, my interior button lights dont light up BUT when "a" button is pressed then the indicator light that indicates that "that" certain button is in use lights up. make sense? i checked all the fuses, under the steering wheel and under the hood and they are all fine.

background - my lights but not enging were on while i was changing out my shifter light from a L.E.D. to the stock bulb and notice a few very small sparks.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Maybe they're on, but very dim... That way when you depress the button, it looks like they're lighting up since the clear portion of the button is moving closer to the bulb... Just a thought.

Hmm...well, some of the buttons have multiple bulbs. I.e. one for backlight and one to light up when button is "on". Don't know if i read that right but maybe?

Remove the switches and replace the burnt out bulbs . Now, some of these bulbs are special lil boogers so you might go to the dealer first, tell them which switches need bulbs and have em order em for you. I would also reccommend replacing ALL the bulbs in ALL the switches that currently have burnt out bulbs so you don't have to pull all the switches again for one more bulb.

ok can someone try this out for me? when you start your car during the day with no lights on, your shift light in the gauge cluster should indicate that you're in park/reverse/drive etc. can you use your dimmer switch to see if the shift light dims and brightens for me? this way if it does, i know that its the dimmer switch thats no good.

thanks
