Any insight on my problem?

This morning and last night my 3.2 had a hard time starting. The engine turned over 1nce or 2wice, but then it stopped. So I removed the key, turned off the radio, closed the door, checked and made sure the head lights were off, all to conserve starting power. I tried again, and same thing happened. On about the third try, it started. The noise it was making was the same noise it makes when it starts normally, but is sounded slower and deeper (if you can imagine). Im pretty sure its not the battery because when my battery died a week ago it would make a different sound, like tick tick click tick. Plus I replaced the battery with a brand new one. Could this now be a problem with the starter? Timing belt?

Anyone know? Thanks for any help!

 

Have you had the alternator checked? If your alternator is not charging your battery, the new one will also die out eventually.
