heater

My temp will remain stable than all of a sudden peak....It will than drop back down to normal (mid range) and remain stable. I checked the oil for coolant and everything looks fine. I had just taken it to the dealer and they changed the coolant. Any suggestions?? thanks

if your temp is sporadic like that that is a sign for BHG... that is good that the oil does not have a sign of coolant... check the exhaust, does it look white with a sweet burning smell???

if i were you, i would go get a leak down test... that will tell you for sure if it is a BHG, but from the sound of it, no heat and sporadic temp.. u may be headed in that direction.. it is common with our engines...

I have a 98 3.2 and have a similar problem.

I only lose heat when the car is sitting still. The heat works fine when the car is moving but if I'm stopped at a drive through window for a minute or so the heat will slowly stop coming and I'll just get cold air.

I have a 98 2.5TL and I have the same problem as stappa. If the car is sitting still, I get no heat - like waiting at a red light, etc. As soon as I start moving, the heat returns gradually.

heater problem

Here's what happened. I thought the worst..head gasket or heater core or water pump but when I took it to the dealer it was a small pinhole in the upper radiator hose. I was loosing antifreeze at 20 PSI. This slow loss of coolant caused my heater to not blow heat. I replaced the hose and SNAP! it was fixed. I hope this helps..

try to check your heater core, it migt be worn out and needs some replacement, also check your radiator for some leaks.
