Head Gasket repair?

I have a 1998 2.5 TL (Canadian model) I'm in Guadalajara, Mexico-where there are no Acuras. The mechanic says he can fix the car if the block is steel. But if it is aluminium he says it is better to get a rebuilt motor.

The reason he says it is the head gasket is because there is water in the oil. The car won't start.

Please advise. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Generally it's simpler and cheaper to get a used motor out of a wrecked car than either a rebuilt one or repairing the one you have.
Finding a Canadian wrecked one in Guadalajara might be difficult, though, assuming there are differences between the Canadian version and the US version.

We have a Mexican member on here, he might know of a shop that can help you. Now, the mechanic you went to seems like he does half-assed work if he's not able to resurface an aluminum head. What does the car do when you try to start it? Does it crank at all or is there nothing when you turn the key?

~Cheers~
