H3c Foglight Conversion DIY

:Informations [This DIY] is to be used at your own risk.
Juss had to be said ya know.. hah

To make your stock Foglight housing; which takes H3C bulbs to accept the more common H3 bulbs...

First is what you need..

Roll of electrical tape, male end conectors thingy.. sorrie iono the name hah, about a foot of wire [ 6" for each bulbs actualy] , and the H3 Bulbs u want to use .duh

Cut 2[two] 6inches long wires, and strip both end of the wire [about half an inch] take one male conecting end and connect it to just one end of the wires..

Like so..

[Dont mind the corndogs.. not need, but is good for when you finish this mod..]

Im a nice guy and heres a better pic of it..

Make two for two bulbs..

here is the weather seal on the right [passenger] side.. take it off so u can get to the foglight housing..

Then there is 2[screws] that holds in a metal 'ring' that holds in the yellow condoms and bulb.. LOOSEN the TOP one so it dont fall out an get lost i didnt n took jus about 10Mins trying to find it some where with the front bumper..
Take off the bottom screw becareful not to drop it....
So take the wires you juss made and wrap the other end around the screw..

Like so..

[look at my funky fingers haha ]

Best time to REMOVE or Put back in the yellow condoms.. here a pic of said thingy
[BTW i call it a condom cuz ive seen it call a condom here on this fourm iono its real name hah so dont blame me]

Now take that wire with screw and srew em back in, both top and bottom..
like so..

now take the H3 bulb and stick em in.. and use the trap to close it in..

heres the bulb

Now put the weather seal back on with the wires sticking out of the holes..

Again.. Like so

Then stick one wire in to one end and the other in ....the other end.. lol

and tape it up good so it isnt going to fall off or he water collect on it.. juss to be safe..

And BAM you should be done

MUHAHAHHAHA

Do the same for the other side.. only thing is take out the battery so it is easier for the other side.. driver side [ For the 3.2TL that is..] not sure about the 2's

i fell in love with my car again when they came on..

Im Out!!

Wow! Thankyou for taking the time to take pictures and made a walk through.
I like it when solutions are convey this way.
I'm going to fix mine soon.

I am thinking of keeping the yellow condoms on but, I will remove it because I can put in whatever colors I like at anytime without having to unscrew everything.
It'll be easier to just get a colored bulb.

Nice write up man. By the way, does anyone have the yellow condoms that they do not want and willing to sell or perhaps donate to a fellow first gen owner? I broke one of the condoms when I was blacking out my housing and I miss the yellow fog look.

^Tape.. After i crimp [SP?] the male end connector to the end of the wire.. i wrap it with the tape.. and burn it alil with a lighter so it seal tight, and the other time is when i actualy pulged it in to the 'Harness' i guess u can call it.. i tape it alot so it dont fall out or collect water and short out ur cars electrical system.. sorrie i didnt take pic of that/BUT i did say to do it.. so PLEZ read it dont juss go by the pictures, cuz i really dont want anyone to do it wrong..after reading my DIY lol.. but yeah.. i mean u CAN do it without the tape but i would rather like it if you did... cuz if you didnt i would soooo kick your ass lol j/k

i does look a lot better IMO. i took out the condom and put silverstars in there and it's definitely better for light output at night. everyone knows a white light is brighter than a yellow light.

If you live in SF and have to deal with the fog, it helps. Once, I started driving on my parking lights only because I could see better without my headlights or fog lights on. That's how bad it gets in Pacifica, hehe.

Does any know the post on how to keep you fog lights on with the head lights off. I think the fog lights look cool with the head lights off.

I need to replace my fog bulbs
I looked up the H3C bulbs online but sites have them $70-90 for a pair is this rediculous? I would think they would be a few bucks a piece?

yes that's a horrible ripoff. if you go to a honda dealer, you can get them for like $10 a piece. that's where i got mine from before i converted to H3.

A good set of Raybrig H3cs will run about $80 online. Dealer is actually the cheaper solution in this case.

from the dealer it's just a standard yellow/white bulb but unless you have your fog condoms taken out, it's gonna appear yellow.

I have the aftermarket lights in with clear/white fogs. So if i just get the regualr bulb it will just be the standard color.. i was hoping the bulbs themselves may come in different colors. I see that you can do some wireing to make it take H3 bulbs then i can get piaas or some super white bulb but I dont want to mess with the wireing...

ya, it's understandable because it's honestly a PITA. when one of the grounding screws came loose on my fog light a couple weeks ago i actually had to remove the entire headlight and work on it in the basement because there's virtually no room to do it inside the engine bay. and if you dont know how to remove the headlight, you actually have to remove the front bumper, front reinforcement bar, and another supporting bar so it royally sucks. although once you do the mod to H3, it's really nice to just run to the store and buy a replacement bulb if you need it and also, in your case, you can get different colors.

HAHA! that REALLY does suck to get to the headlights! Yeah, I may just have to do the wireing to get some coo bulbs in there.. the dim ass yellow lights prob wont cut it for me.

So after the rewire the stock plugs(H3C) work for two of the prongs on the H3 bulb and the other part/male piece is to ground it?

basically. your standard H3 bulb will come with one plug and that will go into one side of the harness. the other side will be filled with the wire that connects from there to the screw that holds down the bulb.

oh and the reason behind the extensive headlight removal, is because if you're gonna try and steal them...it aint gonna happen
