Fixing the window noise
Well, I had one of my door panels off yesterday to grease up the window tracks. I only sprayed some WD40 on them last time because I was in a rush. There is a wire too, I put some grease on that. We'll see how well it holds up with more use because of summer being here. But anyways.
I was looking at trying to adjust the doors so that they closed tighter, and think I may be taking a step in the right direction. There are 2 hinges (top/bottom) and then a small piece in the middle, which I am under the impression that help's regulate how far the door opens/closes. I undid the bolts holding it in, and added another washer, and put them back in. The door still closes, windows/locks still work, and the door still lines up as well as ever.
I took a dollar bill, put it in between the seal and the window, and gave it a little tug. It is pretty loose without the extra washers there, but with the washers there added a little bit tighter seal. Same thing with the door and the frame of the car.
I was out driving around last night after I had done that (not above 60) and the wind noise seemed to be noticably reduced. The weather wasn't too windy, just a light breeze.
The more driving I do, the more I'll let you guys know. Just thought I would let you guys in on this since it is such a common problem.
If your going to do it, just grab a 10mm ratchet and go at it. The washers I used were pretty thin to start off with, though I may try some thicker ones down the raod when I get some good time to work on it.

tried working on this as well unsane, tried putting double sided tape between frame and weatherproofing black rubber around door but still had plenty of wind noise. but i did try something else for the scratches and as far as ive seen it seems like its doing the job. what i did is i loosened the bolt tensioner that keeps window from rattling. i pried it away from bumpers that cause the friction. i then applied a hook and loop fastener which i bought at radioshack. there are 2 pieces to this: a rought side that has many small plastic like heads, the other sided has a fibrous material that is soft and much like bumper, cushions the window. this piece however has longer strands and thus allows for more space should dirt/dust get stuck in there. instead of scratching window, hence it cushions! just peel off plastic that covers sticky side and stick it over bumper. i have had this on there for a month and have witnessed no further scratches. hope this helps.
I'll have to try that out with the scratching, mine are pretty scratched to begin with, but keeping them from getting worse would be nice.
I titled the thread wrong, it really should have said Fixing the wind noise. I just went through it too fast, glad that I may have found an easy fix.
I just looked farther into it today. The screws that get the washer added to do not hit the body of the car when closed, and the hinges aren't closing as far as possible right now either. I think there is still a possibility for more improvement.
