Unhappy Exhaust Manifold issues

I recently moved to Phildelphia and my 1998 2.5 TL with 165k miles failed the basic inspection because there is a crack in the exhaust manifold. I love the Acura but the mechanic said that the cost to fix is $4,400.

Does anyone know if I can get used parts in the PHL area or if you know a good local mechanic that knows this model well that might be able to fix it for me!

I love the car but cannot afford to spend money to fix it - If I could I would have upgraded to the latest TL!

Thank you all

Junkyard. A cracked exhaust manifold shouldn't be more than $750

Brand new manifold installed at the stealership will not cost more than $1400.00.
Mine cracked last year. I bought one online for I think $300.00 and my mechanic charged $200.00 to install it.
You may qualify for the extended warranty, I am not sure.

Go here and and send out a request for a used one.

A skilled welder can perform a weld repair that will work. Stop-drill crack ends, preheat, and use of correct weld consumible should allow a good repair. Brazing may be a lower heat input option. I would find someone who regularly repairs exhaust manifold cracks and rely on their judgement.

Used parts are expensive ($300 and more), and might have the same flaw appear in short order.

I was able to get Acura to replace mine but car only had 95K miles when work was done. It's worth asking Acura for some help on this issue.

good luck
