My car cranks like 15 times before starting. Sometimes I have to turn the key back then try again. Is this the spark plug wires?

it could be a simple tune up... sometimes think oil may cause this problem as well.
check spark plugs wires and distributor.
turn ur key and wait 3 seconds before cranking... sometimes when i start crancking right way it won't start for me either.. so i usualy wait for my fuel pump finish initializing.

Even with a tune up (plugs/wires/oil/coolant/tranny fluid/fuel filter/air filter) and clean fuel system (25+mpg no highway and some aggresive driving) sometimes if I get in and turn the key as quick as I can, it will take a bit longer to start up. I have never had that problem if I leave the key in II for a couple seconds, and then start it.Originally Posted by nick96acuratl

Turn the key to II, let the fuel pump do its work and then go.
While I don't have anything against that remedy, I need to find the source of the problem and the a solution. Thanks!

In other cars that I have owned, when you have to run the starter for that long it was usually an indication that the coil was going bad. Just my 2cents. Also you should never run the stater for that long that is generally the fastes way to burn them up.
Ahh. Thanks, thats what I was looking for. I had a suspicious feeling about my coil anyways. Much appreciated.
