1G 3.2 tl differential
Hey guys, so I just picked up a project TL for 700 bucks. The diff is completely messed up in this car. I just removed the diff today and am looking for a new/used one now. Heres some pics of the old ones internals and case

1.) D4 light out.
2.) Slow scratched driver and pass windows.
3.) Starter went bad... (fixed with new pos/neg contact points for plunger in stater)
4.) Leaky pass tail light.
5.) Check engine light even after Acura tried to fix the recall problems.
6.) Stiff opening driver side rear door.
7.) Stock CD player no longer plays CD's.
Other than that, I love the car.

96 tl 2.5 153,000 miles
slow windows
no d4 light
replaced starter
squeaky under 25 mph
replaced muffler
all problems fixed except for cylinder 1 misfire & occasionally hard shifting (Tranny flush???) someone please let me know. Found oil #1 cylinder spark plug threads-is this the cause of the misfire/shifting?

2. rattling windows
3. wind noises coming from windows/rubber seals
4. check engine light
5. bad door handles (spring popped out of place)
6. starting prob during cold weather
7. D4 light burning out
8. slow windows
9. crazy locking system that locks itself after you lock it
10. finally..the last prob 1st gen has is the lack of aftermarket parts! if COMPTECH gave up on us, who else can we turn to?!

EGR and coolant '96 TL 2.5
Will the EGR problem cause the car to have a hard time starting? and i have changed everything when it comes ton the coolant and it still over heats. both temp sensors and the relays for the fans and the coolant!!!!!!!!!!!!! i need help

I have to say I find it kind of funny that so many people are saying that their D4 light burned out. Mine is out, too, but here I always thought it was supposed to be out so it wouldn't distract the driver or something, lol. I bought my '98 3.2 TL used and the D4 light never worked for me. My car has scratches on the window, but I thought that was from my boyfriend scraping ice off in the wrong direction (they are very long, straight, and vertical, so they must be from the door). My driver side window is slow and gets slower in the cold. Also in the cold, the car gets a mind of her own and locks the doors automatically. I can't close the door while clearing snow off and idling because I can't trust that she won't try to lock the keys in. One time I got in, she locked the doors, then when I tried to start the engine, the alarm sounded. Also, the cassette and CD player are both dead, but I use an iPod and FM tuner or the radio now, but I think there is a CD stuck in the CD player that I will have to see about surgically removing. The most recent "small issue" is the hood not opening when I pull the lever under the dash. It should pop up so I can lift it and pull the safety latch to fully open it, but since it doesn't pop, as soon as I let go of the lever, it goes back to being latched. When I'm alone, I have to use the seat belt to hold the lever out for me so I can run around to the hood to lift it. I love my TL, though. She may be old, but she's still a great car.

I am from The Bahamas and I have a 1995 Honda Inspire from Japan which I found out matches up with the Acura Tl. The problem I'm having is oil is leaking between the distributor and the engine. I replaced the distributor but oil is still leaking onto the exhaust pipe. I removed the distributor again and found (2) worn oil seals on a metal sleeve between the distributor shaft and the camshaft. I need help in finding replacement seals please.

This site is A W E S O M E!! New member here, and proud owner (the latest of many) of a 1996 Acura TL 2.5 pre. Most pressing issue is possible rear main seal leak. Have some exterior paint scratches and dings. Having had experience refinishing guitars, not anticipating trouble with minor body work and finish repairs, good info on this site about more major mechanical troubles....not a bad ride for 243K miles!

1996 Acura TL 3.2 Prem
I have an Acura Tl 3.2 Prem 1996. My friend that is a mechanic told me that I have a oil leak coming from my engine and its dripping onto my transmission. He doesn't know where the leak might be coming from as he only took a quick look. He works at a Nissan dealership and can't check the problem out unless I make an appointment with them. Just wanted to know if anyone here might know how bad of a leak this could be before I make an appointment with them to have it checked out.

Starter help!
Brand new battery.
Brand new starter.
Brand new spark plugs.
Brand new main relay.
Brand new valve cover gasket.
Brand new oil filter.
5 quarts of oil.
Sometimes when she runs hot, she doesnt turn over. NO SOUND. Maybe just a muffled *click* but thats it. Then it takes anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes to crank her, then she'll start up.
Suggestions? Advice? Solve this problem? Deduce the source? Because im stumped. Oh and she always STARTS when shes COLD.

Ill most definitely inquire about the ignition switch and distributor cap/rotor. A friend said it might be the alternator. However; she doesnt make that ju-ju-ju-ju-ju-ju sound when she doesnt wanna start. Theres just a *CLICK!* and thats it. Rest and wait 2-20 minutes and she'll start up.

Are you certain that all the work was done?
It really seems like a starter or starter solenoid problem, but obviously, I'm only guessing.
When my starter went up, it took many tries to get it going.

Heater Wont go off/ Replaced resistor/ No Air!!!
At first I has nothing blowing out of the vents. But now I have a new issue, hot air wont stop blowing out and won't go off!!! I have replaced the resistor under the dash by the blower motor, replaced the connector to the blower motor, replaced the heater fuse under the hood in the fuse box, now it's stuck and wont go off, the heat works just fine but now wont go off, i still have no cold air and even when i press the buttons to control the a/c and heat it wont turn off. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

My d4 light is out wind noise when windows are closed window rattles when half way down but car runs good after I just changed the starter about to hit 80,000 miles trying to find a good exhaust system for the car was looking into g reddy and maybe a cold intake trying to get a few more horsepower any suggestions will be greatly appreciated .

OK folks I'm a newbie and have only had my 1998 TL 2.5 for about two months now. Here's my "feature" list:
1. Blue paint job faded well beyond it's years.
2. Black trim molding arond all windows/doors almost completely peeled off.
3. Slow power windows all around IMHO. Luckily I don't have the sctch
4. Stock CD Player sometimes doesn't want power up but seems work OK.
5. AC Odor - I seriously thought this was urine as the previous owner was elderly with failing health. Haven't run the AC in over a month. No PeePee/AC now.
6. Chrome tailpipe treatment apparently flew off when I took a turn pretty quickly (as witnessed by a neighbor). No the piece was gone when she told me about it latere.
7. OBDII - Fault code P0304 - Cylinder 4 misfires
That last one is actually my reason for joining the forum! Should I start a new topic or try to find one that is reasonably recent and reply there? Common sense reinforced by the posts I've seen so far certainly indicate that perform and electrical tune up first (plugs, wires, etc.) I have no idea what a Coil Pack is but I guess I'll find out. I also didn't know that these things were 5-cylinder vehicles either but when I first popped the hood there there were.... all five of 'em.
Hoping to tap the vast amount of knowledge here on this forum and hope to return the favor by relaying my experiences along the way.
