wat up all my tl fanatics!!! well, i own a 97 3,2 Tl all stock at the moment but i love the car.Unfortunately i do have the check engine light but im really not worried because so far she drives xellent!..
one thing though...DO ANY OF YOU know why my yellow fog lights might not work if they arent burnt out??? or is there a special button for those????
im new to the acura family so i have basic knowledge over this great car..
plzzz help asap!!!!

i see some of you posting up that your heated seats arent working on your 96/97 TLs. I thought not all 1g tls had heated seats?

Just bought a 97 TL 3.2 base model with 251k miles but in very good shape. Just a few issues that I need to get wrapped up.
1. No heat until revving engine and also long warm up times, gauge spikes to 'H' then comes back down only in the morning. Bled system already and much air came out of bleeder. Thermostat was replaced previously by owner.
2. After a lot of rain I hear water sloshing up under the dash, then on turns i get drips of water (not coolant) on my leg and both floor mats. I cleared the drain tube from under the car on a lift but no debris came out and not sure whether to start disassembling where the drain tube connects to the heater compartment inside the car and move into the ventilation ducting and take apart that stuff???
3. Clunky hard shifts in and out of 3-4.....upshifts and downshifts especially on lighter throttle.

It's your heater core. Check the coolant hoses that go into the firewall. There are two that are on top of each other, one that leads in and one that leads out. Make sure that isn't leaking.

2. wind noises coming from windows/rubber seals
3. check engine light (replased o2 sensor had to be a specific brand 2 aftermarket never worked)
4. bad door handles (spring popped out of place)
5. starting prob during cold weather
6. D4 light burning out
7. Problems unlocking door with remote

Our 1996 2.5 TL check engine light says O2 sensor #2 heater failed test. My D4 light is also out. I'm a former pro mechanic and do my own work. I live in Chapel Hill. Any info? Thx, Buz Gaver 919 929-0603 office

Just picked up a '98 TL 2.5 premium, so far so good with a few of your common issues
D4 light out
Brake light on when car is very cold
Trans shifts okay but kind of inconsistent
Windows are slow
I'm guessing the low fuel bulb is out as well since the gauge was bottomed out when I bought it and no light was on
Condesnation in the tail lights
Slight smell of gas when first started and the car has been sitting overnight (any ideas on this?)
Sound of a clunking when coming to a slow stop.. almost sounds like (and could be) a golf ball or bottle rolling around in the trunk or under the seat.
I only need the car for beating around so I'm not sweating the little things so much right now. I plan to get the car to my buddys place for a good once over weekend anytime we get a break in the weather in the next couple months.
Does anyone have the part # for the trans filter/screen you replace when you drop the pan? Would it be #7 in this picture?

Alternator failed had to be replaced at 310k miles
I figured this might help someone with alternator and low voltage light stuff. I got a low voltage light on my dash on 12/30/09 for about five minutes. Came in as I was driving, went out as I was driving. The next day it came on and stayed on about 20 minutes into my 30 minute drive to work. So after work I tried to drive it to the nearest Acura dealer, which is about 70 miles from my work. The Honda dealer in the nearest town wasn't willing to do anything other than oil changes and stuff like that. Unfortunately it was raining really hard that afternoon so I had to run with lights on, which I am sure drug the electrical system down pretty hard. Different stuff dimmed as I drove, then the car just stopped. Had to get it towed the rest of the way (about 18 miles) to the Acura dealer. Total Acura dealer cost was about $772 to check & replace the alternator. Always wondered if I should just go ahead & replace it "some day". Well some day came!

I have the same problems. 1996 2.5 with 142k miles. Just did full fluid change and still pops a CEL :thumbsdow And very slow windows

Ignition problems, please help!
98' 3.2 TL, 353,000kms
CEL is on, dunno why, supposedly was told my EGR valves were cleaned out to pass emmisions test in Ontario, Canada. Still runs fine. Shouldn't the CEL turn off? is it O2 sensor?
my real problem is my Ignition. my key is stuck, have to use a 2nd key to lock/unlock doors. Stuck in the 1 position, but make sure everything is off so i dont need a jumpstart. But the real problem is the sudden stalling while driving(radio goes out, power stutters very quickly) and during starting the car, when i turn the key into the 2 position, power is cutting in/out, thus not enough power to start the engine. ive had cases where jumpstart wouldn't help, then wait in the car for almost an hour in the 2 position, then all of a sudden the car would start.
Can you please help me? Dealership told me it was the wire harness, ignition tumbler that needs to be replaced. i don't think they are even sure what the real problem is. CAn you please off some help?

I have the same problem with the Cigarette Lighter not working. It is bad if you have a GPS, Radar Detector, Car Vac, Or need to charge your cell phone. And you are right there is no fix for it. No fuse for it. Why didn't they have it run off of the Battery?

97' 3.2 tl with 170k running strong,
1. rotors warp easy
2. tranny shifts rough but i just had it flushed and its smooth now
3. windows slow especially the passenger one no scratches though
4. shimmy at about 25mph, took it to a few shops no one could find a problem though
5. seems to lack some power until about 3000rpm

I have the same problems. Airbag light, D4 light, Slow driver and passenger window. Starter went out, had it re-built fpr 40.00 bucks, scratched window, headlight flicker and mileage sucks. Other than that, I love the car. It has 153k on it now.

any one experience a weird sound almost like when those belt puleeys tough another metal metal touching another metal..to me at the moment sounds like its coming from the belts that are outside and front of the engine

my ABS light keeps coming on, when i fist start up the car its not on, so when i i press down on the brake to shift into drive it feels like its grinding on something (can feel it on my foot and hear it) and when i wait a while, it turns on and does not have the grinding problem when it was off.

dead battery
I recently parked my 96 Acura 2.5TL with no symptoms of any problems present. I don't think that I left any lights on. When I returned the battery was completely dead no lights no buzzers no clicks no power at all. When I tried to jump start it, it was still exactly the same no power at all. Hopefully someone on here can help point me in the right direction.

3. trans seems to jerk at 17-20 mph at 2k rpm
4. seats all ripped up

i have an acura 2.5tl it runs good for about 50 miles then it will slowly die out and wont crank til it sits for a couple of hours then it runs fine. doe anyone know what the problem could be? please help

1999 Acura TL 3.2
I just bought a 1999 TL with 150K miles, without knowing the maintenance history. The transmission oil had a strong acrid smell and the shifting was rough. I flushed three times with Honda brand transmission oil and now it shifts well. I also changed the timing belt; it looked almost new, but I didn't trust its history.
