Where is the best palce to buy an OE Catalytic Converter 96 TL 3.2 and how much am i looking at to get one repalced, part and labor?

That is the right mount for the part.

I would say another $100-$200 to install.

The one for the 2.5 ranges from $110-$180.

You have two converters and on eBay the 2.5 one is about ~$110 including shipping and is you multiple that by 2 then you have the deal that you found.

 

This is an aftermarket "oem equivalent" part. It may or may not be as good as OEM, but is unlikely made by Acura part manufacturer. See following link to Acura parts listing (Part 2).

Is it as good as Honda? No way to know. Caveat emptor.

Why are you replacing? Did you get code P0420? Be sure to check the flex pipe. A cracked and leaking flex pipe will cause P0420 also. Acura makes good converters and they rarely fail.

Yeah i got the P0420 code. My car died on me on the freeway lastnight and would not start back up. This morning it started no problem, but after i got off work i and tried but stalled out. I think my converter is clogged.

What's ya'll in put on this?

unbolt the cat and see if it'll start.

 

I once had a clogged converter (accidental use of leaded gas back in 70's). Car would start OK, but would accelerate very poorly.

Intermittent non-start does not sound like clogged converter. P0420 can be caused by bad primary O2 sensor, exhaust leaks ahead of converter, fuel pressure problems, etc. It may not be related to your non-start problem.

Dieing on freeway could be loss of fuel pressure; bad main fuel relay or failing fuel pump. Does this happen when gas level is well below 1/4 tank?

Problem could also be ignition switch opening the ignition power supply. Did you notice whether CEL and Bat lights came on when car died? If no lights came on, the keyswitch is likely.

I had my main fuel relay replaced about 2 month ago. The Shop just called and said i have a bad coil pack and bad plugs. They said the fuel pump is working, oh all this did happen at 1/4 tank. My check engine light has been on for awhile before this happen too. I had the p0420 code only and the battery light did come on when it stalled out.

I'll keep ya'll updated on the out come.

When car stalls w/ switch ON, the CEL and Alt light should come on. CEL will go out after a few secs if no codes. If you're sure abou the lights, I suspect the other repairs will only make the shop happy.

Well i got my car back! It's running like new. Code are gone Six new plugs and a coil pack did the trick. I'm going to take it for a ride tommorrow and keep ya'll updated.

Found out that i had Three cracked plugs and a bad Coil pack, that's what caused my no start and code P0420. Only driven 15 mile so far.

Total cost $360

You was right TexasHonda my light CEL back after 100 mile, but so far my car is running alot better. No more shakes, can't even hear it run and faster acceleration I haven't had it rescan yet but I'm sure it the p0240 again.

We'll I'll guess i'll look into and see what i can do.
