Bottom Front ball joint broke

Well on Thursday nite i was on my way to my auto body class an half way there i started to here a grinding noise i slow down an take it easy from then on. i get to class an i took my car apart therefore finding out that my passenger side lower ball joint is shot. the ball joint dropped from the socket but didnt break off therefore the the bolt was grinding against my rim.

My problem is now were do i get a new ball joint from any ideas.???

I tryed the 94-97 accord joint an the shaft wit the thread is way to skinny so that wasnt gunna work so i returned it.

Then when i started to ask arround they said i have to buy the whole knuckle with the ball joint on it honda, car quest an napa said that. i dont bother with o rellies or autozone cuz they never have anything anyways lol the guy at honda said it will be hard to find that bottom ball joint but i can still get it.

So any ideas on were i can get a bottom ball joint for my 2.5..??? i really need my car soon am a man down with then the TL right now not kewl

I apricate the help

Lower BJ is replaceable. It can be done w/ special installation tool that most auto parts stores have (AZ, O'Riellys). I managed to install a new BJ in my 2.5TL w/o too many problems.

Readily available, but OEM is probably higher quality.

good luck

I am actually looking for the same part and may have possibly found one from rockauto.com the part # is 1015546. I'm going to try it when I replace my wheel bearing and cv axles.

I don't think the rears are interchangeable with the fronts. What about adjustable camber kits... just something to think about if you are planning on lowering your car in the future.

Glad you got yours fixed. I was looking around for info for mines since I'm in the same boat and found this. http://www.allworldauto.com/recalls/...all_15181.html Statute of limitations has probably expired or something, but I thought I'd share it since it seems to be an acknowledged problem.

Just did my front and you need to replace the whole upper control arm as the ball joints are incorporated in it....

so glad to hear about this problem being able to fix. when I was doing work on my 2.5, I replaced all the boots but the lower Ball Joint looked fine. the upper is loose but i plan to get a camber kit later so more grease and boot for now. When I was looking to replace all the ball joints, it was listed as the whole knuckle as well.

rockauto.com # 1015546 is key huh?

I'd like to find the answer to this as well. Going to work on the front suspension soon, just replaced one of the rear trailing arm yesterday.

after searching and searching today, I think I found something OEM that looks promising.

I bought some universal ball joints for camber correction but with my slammed front end, i don't need extra height on my control arm to band my shock towers.

google search turned up this lead...

google search 1996 2.5TL front upper control arm
and 2 options were not available.

I then google searched the part #s and found one is currently listed on ebay.
AUTO EXTRA AXK90469 Strut Cushion/Mount

and sourced the company for the other
XK90490 Coni-Seal

I think it will be worth a shot to order one or the other to try out.

Yeh I posted for upper ball joints but original post is for lower. Your link shows lower and adjustable upper. I don't want that bulky adjustable kind since it adds so much height and for a slammed car that's just asking for bent shock towers. I ordered 2 from eBay and will post results. Ingalls makes adjustable control arm bushings that look like a better way to adjust camber.
