96 3.2 TL wont start
I bought a 96 3.2 TL 115 K miles from an auction. No fuel comes out from the bleeder valve of the fuel filter so I suspect that the Fuel pump does not work. I dropped the tank and checked the continuity of fuel pump. Fuel pump has continuity so I did checked the voltage of the wire to fuel pump and only shows about 3 volts when ignition is turned on. Voltage goes down to 1 volt when I crank the car. I think my pump is good but I dont know whats the next step to troubleshoot. Can anybody help me?
Thank you
Thank you
Fuel pump relay or Main Fuel Relay (MFR) on Hondas and Acuras is usually located under the dash, up high and usually against the outside body. That's where it is on my 2.5TL and I imagine the 3.2TL is similar or same.
It can be a real bear to reach the MFR on some cars. A shop manual for your vehicle may be necessary to locate. Do a search on this forum for help from previous posters.
good luck

Pain in the (fill in the blank)
The fuel relay is very hard to locate and (in my experience) is extremely difficult to remove. In fact, I had to remove the drivers seat so I could stand on my head to see under the dash. The brake pedal repeatedly hits your forehead......
Long story short, the pigtails (2 of them) leading into the relay face downward to the floorboard. The bad news is that the relay appears to be attached to the dashboard frame with a screw or bolt located at the top which is not possible to remove from under the dash. I believe the dash has to be removed in order to replace the relay.
If anyone has any information that could help myself or anyone else trying to replace this part, or if you know the name and address of the engineer who designed this, please post!
Thanks,
TJ Cook

So it was....
So it was the fuel pump relay. It is located in the drivers side of the dash. I just unhooked the old one, plugged in the new relay, cranked it to test, and stuffed it into the dash securely. works like a charm! It looked like a real pain to get the old one out properly.
3.2 TL won't start when hot
Thanks for the thread - I think I'm having the same relay problem. Cranks fine all day, just won't start. I replaced plugs and had Injectors cleaned. Then I discovered this website. I'll try the Relay swap tomorrow. Thanks.
