1998 TL 3.2 Overheating.

1998 TL 3.2 Overheating.

So, I was driving and i notice my needle past the usual point then suddenly climb to H, pulled immidiately and turn off the engine.. pop the hood fan wasnt turning on, turn the key to on still on H, check under the hoo came back inside turn the car on everything was fine, back to normal. then it started doing it this week again... so i got the coolant flushed, everything seemed fine till tonight, it slowly come up again. turn off the engine turn it on drove away everythings fine.... getting sick of this cooling system issue... any input will help a lot.

also i notice the light blink sometimes will driving at night.... I have no Luck on Four doors!!!!! I had a Lude, del sol, rx7 before... no problem whatsoever.. first car was a 4 door teg(was a POS)... now this TL OMG.. I should've bought that 350z...and stayed with 2 doors!!! oh yeah, TL has 116XXX.. yeah, low mileage...

if you can't diagnose it yourself take it to a shop. have them tell you whats going on. it could be a cooling issue or as severe as a bad head gasket.

Is your heat on? If I have the heat knob turned all the way to the left (90 degrees), it won't actually be hot until the needle for the engine goes all the way up to red. Once it hits the top it will quickly drop back down to normal temperature range, and then the heater will finally be blowing out hot air.

(After re-reading your description of the problem I bet that's it. Scared me the first time it happened too.)

alright, I also have this codes p0141(bad sensor) and P0420 (bad cat). should i go ahead and change both? could this contribute to my over heating problem?

i read this aswell:

made me confuse cause it said failed cat doesnt contribute to bad sensor but i have both codes...
