vigor turbo kit..

hey everyone, in my search i found that they sell a turbo kit for the vigor. for the tl 2.5 this kit could most likely be used. just thought i would share, would the electronics be difficult to run a turbo on the 5 cylinder?

Not really, as it'd be a small turbo, an S-AFC should be enough to tune. What size injectors are on 2.5s? A good rule of thumb is 1HP per CC to prevent leaning out and detonating.

Not really as in you wouldn't need any crazy electronics.

then whats the problem with a small turbo? if you wouldnt be running high boost then wouldnt a smaller turbo be more efficient over a large one? i beleive its a t3/t4 turbo that comes with the kit. ill find it and post the link

Re-read what I had posted. I never said anything about a small turbo being wrong. However, a large turbo is actually more efficient in terms of air VOLUME per PSI of boost.

I don't see a manifold there. Anyhow, don't boost with this kit because it'll last you two months before the turbo starts smoking and burning oil. The manifold will then crack because of the heat, and have the extra bits of metal left over from the rough welding job blow through the manifold into the turbo, further damaging it. You will have problems with this "kit".

^ You'd honestly be better off buying all the pieces separately and getting a manifold made for you. The only thing from the kit that's ok is the catch can, haha! Even the intercooler might have too much of a pressure drop.

Dude, it's not the turbo that's the problem! Why doesn't ANYONE here realise that?

A turbo is a turbo is a turbo. The differences would be in the inlet flange and the flange on the downpipe. Using a turbo from a factory turbo'd car means you'd have to take the DP also, just to reuse the flange on new piping, and the manifold to use the inlet flange. An aftermarket turbo would be easier in this case but we all know that parts from a junked boosted car would be cheaper. You have to weigh in brand new parts vs. used, unknown condition, and grinding off existing welds re-welding.

Now on to aftermarket turbos. Since not many Hondas can boost that high, a T3/T4 hybrid with an internal wastegate would be more than sufficient for street use. I personally would go for a full T4, but for faster spool time, a T3 hot side would be good. Another advantage of the aftermarket turbo is that you can specify what specs you want it to be built to, and how much power/streetability you want.

/end rant(for now)
/end if

~Cheers~

P.S. Also, electronics and fuel have to be considered, and while I do have an FMU sitting in my garage, I don't want to use it.
