I'm about to buy on just for shits and giggles but I wanted to know if they make a difference or if its just a advertising scam .

Give it a try. I've gotten to the point to where these new gadgets that's to improve horsepower, torque, and even save MPG is not worth it. I just stick to basics: A clear path of air to the engine.

They work if they're designed properly. If you can find a C35A intake manifold, they have them built into each runner for mid-range torque.
