Yo all,
I just put on a high-flow intake head, and when I accelerate, I only hear the deeper growl after 4/5000 RPM, I have a feeling this is b/c of the variable flow muffler. Is there a way to permanently open that valve? A friend has the same intake and she gets the sound immediately. Am I missing something, if not, is there a way to mod the muffler?

Sorry, just to clarify, i put on a new cone-filter thing, not entirely sure what the term for it is, but u take out the air box and clamp this onto the hose just before the sensor.

Please go out and buy a real intake instead of using the stock piping with a cone filter. You actually would've seen a more noticeable difference with a K&N drop-in replacement compared to that cone. Best bet is to replace the exhaust system completely, and while there is a way to bypass the VIS, I don't see the need as it hurts the bottom-end.

I hear you on the full out rig, but I'm low on money. I would do the whole Secret Weapon/K&N Intake + Flowmaster/MagnaFlow exhaust, but that gets a tad expensive for me, so for now, I'm sticking to the simple stuff, $25 and 10 mins isn't too bad. Honestly, the growl is half the reason I did it (go ahead, call me a ricer). I don't understand how disabling the VIS would hurt the low RPMs, wouldn't any decrease in back pressure help? Please explain. Thanks again for your input!
